Hello! Let me start off by introducing who I am. I am a counselor who is passionate about helping people build meaningful, stable lives to be the best version of themselves. I see counseling as a shared journey: you are guiding the way, and I am holding the light to help us see the path more clearly. I strive to create a safe, respectful space where clients can explore who they are. I love exploring identity and helping you build a strong foundation. I have been told in the past that I have a more "laid-back" yet structured approach.
During the first session, we will take time to get to know one another and ensure we are a good match. This session will be more structured to obtain your history and to assess your current needs and what you are looking to gain from this experience.
I think one of my greatest strengths is being able to meet clients where they are. I help create a supportive environment while also pushing and motivating clients toward change. I work with clients to normalize struggles, break down clinical concepts into understandable language, and empower them to meet their goals. I am also known to use a variety of metaphors/analogies to better comprehension and understanding.
I have experience working as a counselor in an outpatient setting (depression, life transitions, identity, anxiety, roommate problems, relationship problems, grief, and more). I also have experience working within an inpatient substance use treatment (substance use disorders, grief, trauma, personality disorders, life transitions, identity, self-esteem, and more).
Integrative
I use an integrative approach to counseling to better meet the needs of my clients. My go to ones are humanistic, acceptance and commitment therapy, existentialism, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic.
