Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Kentucky. I received my Masters Degree at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. and been in practice for the past 32 years. I specialize in helping clients better cope with symptoms of mental health issues that include depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, and posttraumatic stress disorder in the hope of improving their quality of life.
In our first session together we will take time to introduce ourselves and begin the process of developing a therapeutic relationship. We will then discuss the issues that brought you into treatment. This will help us develop an initial treatment plan that will be used to guide future sessions.
I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, mental health clinics, employee assistance programs, and established my own private practice. I have developed my own style of conducting therapy that emphasizes compassion, honesty, openness, support, and actively including the client in the therapy process.
I have seen some great improvement with some of my clients over the past 10 years using Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I use this therapeutic intervention with clients who are eager to resolve the issues that brought them into therapy, rather than rehashing their past childhood experiences. I focus the sessions with the intent of dealing with the present while working toward a future in which current problems have less of an impact on the client's life.
I have been using this therapeutic intervention for the past 12 years with clients who are experiencing ongoing anxiety, depression, grief, and other emotional problems. I use CBT to work with clients on becoming aware of how their thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected , and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap them in a repeated negative cycle. I attempt to help clients learn how to change these negative patterns to improve the way they feel.
I use Psychoeducation with my clients to help them understand and cope with their diagnoses as well as improve treatment adherence, as clients who understand their treatment are better able to follow through on recommendations. I also include teaching clients specific coping skills that they can use to manage their symptoms.
