Brianna Serrano
Hi! I’m Brianna Serrano, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in PA and NJ with specialized certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). My background includes over a decade of experience in various settings in healthcare as both a mental health professional and medical social worker with a deep commitment to supporting others through life's most challenging moments. Throughout my career in healthcare settings, I've walked alongside individuals and families facing illness, loss and major transitions- experiences that taught me the value of presence, compassion and the incredible strength people hold even in times of struggle.
I’m Brianna Serrano, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in PA and NJ with specialized certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C).
My certification in Perinatal Mental Health allows me to provide specialized care in supporting individuals and families through the emotional highs and lows of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. Whether you're navigating fertility challenges, birth trauma, perinatal loss, or adjusting to the profound identity shift of becoming a parent, you deserve a space where your experience is honored and your voice is heard.
First session
During our first session I will get to know who you are as a person and may ask some questions about your history. Feel free to share as little or as much information as you feel comfortable during this time as we will work together in building our therapeutic relationship throughout your treatment.
Strengths
I offer a gentle, nonjudgmental approach grounded in empathy and evidence-based care. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and interpersonal therapy, I work collaboratively with you to ride the emotional waves and begin to find your own sense of steadiness within them.
Ideal clients
I am passionate about working with the perinatal population as a mother myself who went through perinatal mental health struggles as well as a strong clinical background in maternity settings. I enjoy working with clients who need support and validation in coping with intrusive thoughts related to pregnancy and postpartum as well as being able to help them build their self confidence and normalize the process that they are going through.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My style of therapy is very client-centered as I focus on who you are as a person and that what you have been through does not define your core self. I believe everyone has a story and to use compassion and respect with each person's experiences.
Attachment-based
I believe that attachment-based practices help us understand how some of our behaviors and thoughts stem from certain childhood experiences and the relationships experienced that shape who we are today.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
This type of treatment is helping in identifying certain negative thought processes and creating ways to reframe or refocus those thoughts to promote more positive thought patterns.
