Hi! I’m Kaydeen , a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who graduated from Fordham University over 20 years ago with a MSW. I have worked primarily with individuals who experienced all types of traumas, specifically Intimate Partner Violence/Domestic Abuse , Sexual Traumas, and helped individuals struggling with interpersonal conflicts. I strongly believe given the right assistance and guidance, anyone can self actualize and be their optimal selves . I am here to guide you and to assist with accomplishing that.
The therapeutic rapport between a client and therapist is important to a client having a successful therapy experience. At Kay’s Safe Space, I strive to cultivate a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. They should absolutely feel safe to express themselves free of judgement or reservation. This is their moment to speak their truth. Our first session is tailored to us getting to know each other, and ensuring this is a good fit.
My ability to connect with my clients is my absolute greatest strength. It’s important that I find out what their individual clinical needs are, but it has to be done in the most authentic, nonjudgmental and supportive way possible. It’s important that we develop a therapeutic rapport where they feel 100 percent comfortable to speak and address any issue, and know with certainty, there will never be any judgement. I have often shared with my clients that I have heard just about everything, so nothing is off limits or surprises me anymore.
Given my years in the field and my unique set of experiences, I can comfortably working with all clients. However, I have extensive training in the areas of Intimate Partner Violence, (IPV) , Domestic Violence and other forms of trauma. There is a lot of shame and guilt associated with trauma, and I find that once clients are able to alleviate the burden of recognizing those feelings are displaced, it helps tremendously, with working towards their healing.
I have over 15 years experience using CBT has a treatment modality with clients. It is particularly helpful when used to treat depression and anxiety or to help treat a behavior.
I have over 20 years experience using this modality. My clients appreciate this wholistic approach as it allows us to examine how social interactions and communication contributes to their individual issues.
I have over 17 years using this modality. It has allowed me to understand how my clients cultural backgrounds shapes and influences there unique traumatic experiences. It has also allowed me to assist clients with working through racial traumas, racial biases and cultural differences.
