Hey, my name is Marrium Guirguis and I am here to help you wherever you are in life. I believe we all have a story to tell and regardless of how similar two experiences sound, they will still be very different from each other and deserve to be heard, validated and worked with uniquely. Throughout my career, I have specialized in working with adults and adolescents 14+ with PTSD, Anxiety, working with survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, family dynamics, supportive therapy through challenges, people with disabilities, and young couples. One thing uniquely about myself is that I am a little person (dwarfism). I navigate the world at 3’6” tall and had to overcome a lot and have learned tremendously from my experiences. If you resonate with that and feel there could be a lot to unpack and work through, I can help you. I have had great success in incorporating one's culture, faith, values and morals due to it being integral in understanding who they are. My Christian faith has influenced my desire to help people, but I enjoy working with people of all backgrounds in a faith-based or secular style, based on your preference. Life is moving pretty fast with all of the rapid changes occurring daily. This may be what you are looking for to be able to gain that much more control over it. Please check out my website at www.faithfultomorrowcs.com for more about my practice.
In our first session together we will have introductions. We will talk about your motivation to begin therapy and about any potential past experiences you have had with therapy. I will also be reviewing your intake questionnaire with you learn more about you to be able to best help. If you prefer this be done at session rather than filling it out prior to the session, you can let me know and we will do that. We can also discuss any personal goals you may have if you are ready to do so. Lastly, it will also be an opportunity for you to ask me questions about how I can best help you.
I always ensure that the treatment methods utilized in sessions are client-centered. You are unique and therefore, so are your experiences. To achieve that I have found great success in utilizing cognitive and humanistic therapy, as well as, trauma-informed care when necessary. For example, if you are someone who has many rapid thoughts due to anxiety and/or trauma, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may be very impactful to be able to identify challenges in decision-making or process fears and emotions. I also believe it is important to be able to identify your strengths and gratitude to provide empowerment and hope. I have found that motivational interviewing and positive psychology assist with being able to achieve that goal.
Throughout my career, I have worked mostly with adults and adolescents who have been through many traumatic events throughout their life. I have worked with clients who have experienced trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse, family troubles, toxic relationships, current struggles, stress and more. I also have experience with family therapy and couples therapy with young adults. I believe my biggest strength is being able to meet you where you are at. I believe that everything about you is significant in this process. I also understand how scary it is to meet someone new and open up and I do not try to push the process. I have a pretty good memory and I utilize that to help you make connections within different areas of your life that you have told me during different sessions. Telehealth may seem impersonal and uncomfortable but I have been told numerous times I help make it a much more comfortable process than expected.
