Hi, there, I'm Taffie - Thank you so much for talking with me! Sometimes it's hard to ask for help - and therapy is a great start! Therapy is not at all scary - often it is a conversation that opens up new thoughts and emotions. Are you looking for a safe welcoming place where you can just be? Be heard, be valued, be accepted exactly where you are? I invite you into my space to experience these thoughts and emotions. As a therapist, I incorporate different approaches which address a variety of mental health issues. I empower you to move forward in life in a way that is dynamic and nurturing. I have an unwavering belief that you can experience change based on your needs and goals. We can walk through challenge and fear together to help you create a fulfilling life. My specialties are relationships with family and other significant folks - such a crucial part of our lives. I also can address trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression and the fluctuations of our mood and emotions. I am always open to discussions of gender identity and sexual identity. I would like to listen as you articulate the issues you are dealing with at this time and help you find the direction you're looking for. It can be freeing to have someone listen, ask questions and make observations - because this time is about you. One of my favorite quotes is: "I am a lighthouse, rather than a lifeboat. I do not rescue, but instead help others to find their way to shore". If you are searching for the way to the shore, I can help.
In our first session, we'll be in the process of finding more out about you. I do a full psycho-social assessment - and ask many questions - so I'm able to be more familiar with who you are and what has happened in your life. Our first session is pretty laid back and not frightening at all! I share a few things about me - or answer questions from you if you'd like more information about me. I don't start with plunging into therapy because it's my belief that we need to develop a therapeutic relationship - comfort, support, trust and being open - before we begin to address the reasons that bring you to therapy.
One of my biggest strengths is to invite you into a therapeutic relationship by using empathy and hearing you completely. I will check in with you to ensure what I heard - and if that is truly what you are saying. You can explore anything you'd like no matter how scary it may be - or personal it may be. I have years of experience - which is why I am never judgmental or critical. I am able to use a trauma therapy that is extemely helpful for post traumatic stress disorder - and can provide some relief. I also identify as bisexual and have worked with the LGBT community and find that can be reassuring for anyone considering their sexuality or gender.
My approach is total acceptance and no judgment. I accept you wherever you are and my role is to empower you to move forward in a way you want.
This therapy is very helpful for processing trauma. I am a board-certified EMDR therapist and welcome you consider this for trauma.
I have worked with individuals in the process of transitioning and those who have already transitioned. However you identify your gender (or sexual orientation) I know that you can still be depressed, anxious or other mental health challenges.
I can employ a number of therapy modalities in order to provide you with a full range of therapy possibilities.
