“My style of therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment therapy/mindfulness. My passion is for learning your story and working alongside you to find the solutions that work for you. I’m here to help you examine what you’ve already lived through and find the path forward. In my work with people with trauma I’ve learned that we often need the reminder – no matter what you have struggled with; you are a survivor and that needs to be brought to light. Keeping that in mind, I am guided by the client towards the goals that they feel are necessary for their treatment.”
An informal assessment with a couple of necessary questions (i.e.-Does either side of your family suffer from D&A or mental health issues). I outline how I complete therapy as well.
My willingness to learn and be proven wrong. My interest in what has made them into the people they are today. My experience in trauma based interventions (Exposure therapy).
I love working with people who understand that progress isn't always a linear path. My clients feel stuck in their thinking and need a helpful outside perspective. They should be open to learning new things as I will be open to learning about the strategies that have worked for them in the past.
I utilize ACT in order to help clients sidestep their patterns of thinking which can lead to improved outcomes.
Utilizing CBT allows the client and myself to analysis the thoughts and feelings the client is having and test whether those thoughts are accurate.
