I’m a therapist who believes deeply in the power of connection, compassion, and honest conversation. Over the past 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people facing trauma, ADHD, grief, and the many transitions that come with aging, and I approach each person’s story with respect and genuine curiosity. I work gently and collaboratively, creating a space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what you’re carrying without judgment. As someone who has always shared my life with animals, I understand how grounding and healing those bonds can be, and I welcome clients who find comfort and strength in them too. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered as you move toward a life that feels more steady, meaningful, and hopeful. Outside of my work, I’m someone who finds joy in simple, grounding things. I love reading, spending time in nature, and making enthusiastic—but often less‑than‑successful—attempts at gardening. Building LEGO is one of my favorite mindfulness activities, and I enjoy attending local outdoor festivals, practicing quiet moments of mindfulness, and spending time with my pets, family, and friends. These parts of my life help me stay balanced, present, and connected, and they often inform the warmth and authenticity I bring into the therapy room.

Kindly note: At this time, I am currently accepting new clients for weekday appointments only, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Hi, I’m Stephanie—a therapist who supports parents who love their kids deeply and feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to show up the way they want to. If you’re navigating the sleep-deprived, overstimulating, “why is my child melting down again?” years (been there!), or you’re moving through a major life change and worried about how it’s impacting your child, you’re in the right place. I specialize in the emotional side of early parenthood and in helping parents understand both their child’s behavior and their own—patterns, triggers, and emotional responses—through a developmental and relational lens. Many of the parents I work with come in feeling stretched thin—burnt out, short-fused, guilty, overstimulated, or stuck in patterns they swore they’d break. You’re not alone, and you’re not failing. Therapy can help you feel more grounded, connected, and equipped to support both yourself and your child.

I am wired for hearing about struggle, metabolizing it and offering a listening ear or practical guidance. My extensive experience enables me to create a comfortable space quickly so we are able to identify and work on your therapy goals without delay. Former clients praise my attentive listening, sense of humor and ability to offer straightforward, effective solutions for achieving peace. I was born and raised in the DMV and later relocated to Florida to leave behind icy sidewalks and Beltway traffic. While the political climate here doesn’t always align with my values, telehealth has allowed me to stay connected with and support individuals whose perspectives resonate with my own. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of experience. I am an EMDRIA trained EMDR practitioner working toward certification. I offer telehealth appointments to residents of Florida, Maryland and Virginia. My work focuses on anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, long-term recovery from substance abuse, adoption triad issues, LGBTQ+ concerns, racial discrimination, grief, and burnout. I provide compassionate, down-to-earth guidance to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. My approach is client-centered. I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker, raised by Caribbean immigrant parents who instilled in me the classic Millennial mantra: “You can achieve anything.” And while that belief fueled my ambition, it also came with a side order of generational challenges—perfectionism, chronic stress, anxiety, and a not-so-charming inability to gracefully handle life transitions. You know, the usual. But here’s the thing: hardship turned out to be my superpower. I became ambitious, self-aware, and checked all the right boxes, yet I couldn’t escape the cycle of mental and emotional roadblocks that left me feeling stuck, wondering how to truly move forward. This insight shaped not only my path but the way I guide others on theirs. Through my clinical work, I help high achieving millennials identify their patterns to move out of survival mode and into their surplus by bridging the gap between knowing and feeling —because being stuck isn’t who you are, and settling isn’t your story.

You've always been the strong one. Right? As a bilingual Asian therapist (English/Mandarin) with over four years of clinical experience at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's Community Psychiatry Program, I walked alongside adults through their darkest and brightest chapters — from life’s most overwhelming moments to recovery and the gradual return of joy. Through that experience, I witnessed how someone could radiate warmth for everyone around them while quietly burning out within. I specialize in supporting high-functioning individuals navigating people-pleasing, social anxiety, and interpersonal burnout, whether that shows up as persistent self-doubt, intrusive thoughts that feel impossible to shake, or an overwhelming need to keep others happy at your own expense. You are not alone, and it doesn't have to stay this way. I draw on an integrative approach across CBT, ERP, MI, and EMDR, tailored to who you are, where you have been, and where you want to go, committed to providing a safe and nurturing space for you to explore, heal, and grow. Even though you may be struggling with something right now, you can choose to see it in a new way... which can lead to changing your relationship to it... which can lead to real transformation. Everything you need is already within you. My role is to help you access it, and use it. I bring curiosity, empathy, and evidence-based therapies -- including mind-body approaches (e.g., EFT tapping, energy work, breathwork, meditation/mindfulness) and the principles of ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and IFS (internal family systems therapy) and spiraling out from there as your story leads us. You bring openness, willingness to practice, and neuroplasticity, and you can change -- literally re-wire -- your brain. When you do, you'll be amazed at the cascade of positive changes this creates... not only within you, but all around you in your life. I'm a licensed mental health professional (LCSW-C) in Maryland and have experience as a social worker and therapist working with children and adults of all ages and backgrounds, providing individual and family therapy in a variety of settings (community mental health agency, schools, inpatient and outpatient healthcare). I learn something valuable from each client with whom I'm privileged to work, and deeply appreciate the insights I gain through our work together. It is hard to be vulnerable in therapy. And while I don't yet know your story, I do know that if you are considering therapy, you are already doing the hard work of introspection. It takes courage to seek out more for yourself. You already have my respect and my empathy, and I would love to be part of your journey of healing and discovery.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Maryland rather than a city like Baltimore?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Maryland. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Maryland from Hagerstown to Ocean City! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Maryland.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
