New to Grow
Hello! I'm Taylor Douthitt, a licensed therapist in Maryland. I have been a therapist for over 9 years in the outpatient and inpatient setting. I have worked with individuals of all backgrounds, family orientations, age groups, and needs. I work with individual clients, family, and couples. My goal as a therapist is to be present and assist the client in working through current and past stressors, challenge unhealthy thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and emphasize the need of daily self-care. We can only be our best self when giving back to ourselves consistently!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will focus on building the therapeutic relationship by getting to know each other, identifying goals and areas of growth the client would like to see within themself.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I focus on assisting my client on exploring the connection between their emotions, thoughts, and their behaviors, but I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet each client's needs. I strive to help people work through their anxieties, depression, PTSD while assisting the client in striving for their best life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is someone who is interested in gaining a better understanding of who they are and how they have come to be. The client can present with a goal of coping with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, but also struggle with more underlying issues that they may not be aware of at the time. Starting therapy can be overwhelming, but only you can take the first step toward your goals and I'm willing to walk along side of you towards your goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been using cognitive behavioral based therapy for 7+ years in the outpatient therapy setting. I use this treatment approach to assist clients in understanding the roots of their thoughts and the connection to their feelings and their behaviors.
Motivational Interviewing
I have been using the motivational interviewing approach for most of my therapy career to aid clients in identifying their goals, motivations, and commitment to change by exploring and challenging their road blocks.
