Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or another mental health issue? I am a psychotherapist with a broad range of experience working with a variety of clients. I use a person-centered, psychodynamic, and eclectic approach to treatment, which means that I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each client. I believe that everyone can heal and grow. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we can work towards a greater understanding of yourself and how your life could be improved.
In our first session, I will take a detailed history of your presenting problem(s) and will work collaboratively with you to begin to work on identifying specific goals to address your concerns.
I have extensive experience working with clients using a psychodynamic perspective. That is to say, I am deeply interested in each client's unique experiences from early in life - including their relationships with significant attachment figures - and how these experiences impact their present-day functioning and experience of themselves, others and the world around them as a whole. I have found that the exploration of early life experiences can lead to greater insight into how we have evolved to cope with the stress of life and navigated the nuances of relationships.
Ideally, I would like to work with clients who are very motivated to explore deep-seated emotional and psychological dynamics originating early in life that may be fueling maladaptive and unhealthy thoughts, feelings and behaviors in the present day.
Working to create a non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic environment, I allow clients to explore their thoughts and emotions freely. I focus on active listening and reflecting feelings rather than giving advice, helping clients access their inner resources for self-healing and growth. At its core, this approach emphasizes the individual's innate ability to find solutions to their own problems when provided with the right therapeutic relationship.
I utilize psychodynamic theory and techniques to help clients gain insight into unresolved conflicts by analyzing dreams, free associations and transference in the therapeutic relationship. I encourage clients to explore deep-seated emotions, providing a safe space for them to reflect on past influences. At its core, this approach emphasizes the importance of bringing unconscious thoughts and feelings into awareness, promoting emotional understanding and long-term change.
Using CBT, I work collaboratively with clients to recognize distorted thinking, challenge unhelpful beliefs and develop practical coping strategies. Techniques like cognitive restructuring, journaling and behavioral experiments are used to modify thought processes and reinforce positive behavior. At its core, this approach helps clients build healthier thinking patterns, leading to improved emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.
