Hi, I’m Dr. Josh Gonsher, a licensed clinical psychologist with a warm, down-to-earth approach to healing. I specialize in helping people navigate anxiety, worry, and stress—not by fighting their symptoms, but by creating a new internal landscape where those struggles no longer take center stage. My approach is grounded in Contextual Therapy. I don’t just help clients “fix” thoughts or behaviors—I work with them to build a more meaningful life, one where old patterns and problems naturally begin to lose their grip. It’s about shifting the frame, not just adjusting the picture. I offer a space that’s collaborative, gently challenging, and deeply respectful of your unique path. You don’t need to “have it all figured out”—just a willingness to begin. Whether you’re dealing with social anxiety, overthinking, burnout, or a general sense of feeling stuck, my goal is to help you move toward a version of life that you choose, one that often feels more grounded, spacious, and aligned with whom you truly are.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The very first question I ask every patient is, "What would you like to have happen as a result of our working together?" While I understand it is very direct, I believe that a person comes to therapy to reduce or remove their emotional pain, and this is the best way I've found to start that work.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am interested and interesting, and my clinical training and several years as a teacher have provided me with a variety of experiences to relate to mostly any patient. The way I practice is effective, elegant, and exciting. I provide short-term therapy and long-lasting results.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize in working with individuals who are grappling with anxiety and depression. My clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed by persistent worry, a sense of hopelessness, or the lingering shadows of past painful experiences. You'd benefit from working with me if: You're seeking to understand and manage difficult emotions. Perhaps you feel stuck in cycles of anxious thoughts or find it hard to lift the weight of sadness. You're committed to personal growth and developing healthier coping mechanisms. My clients are typically motivated to learn new strategies for navigating life's challenges more effectively. You're looking for a compassionate and supportive space to process your experiences without judgment. My approach is collaborative, focusing on helping you build resilience, gain insight, and develop practical tools to move towards a more fulfilling life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I'm trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and use it when it's a good fit or when clients request it. However, my primary approach is Contextual Therapy, which focuses on helping you create a new internal and external reality—one where the original problem no longer holds the same power. It's not just about symptom relief; it's about lasting change through deeper shifts in how you relate to yourself and your world.
