LICSW, 9 years of experience
Hi, I'm Bryna Hackett, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I strive to create a collaborative, supportive therapeutic environment where we can work together to build on your strengths and access your inner resources. My goal is to help reduce emotional distress and foster a renewed sense of hope and perspective. My clinical focus includes working with adults navigating chronic medical conditions, anxiety, depression, and various psychosocial stressors. I am especially committed to providing affirming care for individuals within the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Our first session is all about connection. We’ll take time to understand what you’re hoping to gain from therapy and begin building a foundation of trust. I take a holistic approach to care—meaning I want to get to know you as a whole person, not just focus on the issue that brought you in. Throughout our work together, I’ll act as your guide as we navigate the challenges that come with reducing stress, suffering, and emotional distress—moving toward a place of greater clarity, resilience, and ease.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with others in a way that helps them feel safe, seen, and understood. I bring warmth, cultural humility, and flexibility into the room, and I’m known for meeting each person where they are. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach—our work together will be tailored to your unique needs, pace, and goals. Clients have also shared that they appreciate my calming presence, honest reflections, and occasional use of humor to bring lightness into the work when it’s needed.
I’m best positioned to support adults who are navigating life transitions, chronic health conditions, anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed by the weight of daily stressors. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, burnt out, or uncertain about their next steps—and are looking for a space where they can feel heard, validated, and challenged in meaningful ways. I work especially well with individuals who are reflective, open to self-exploration, and ready to engage in a collaborative process. Whether you're seeking practical tools, emotional insight, or simply a nonjudgmental space to process your experiences, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be.
Bryna Hackett offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you see how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. Together, we’ll work on spotting unhelpful thinking and building practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and depression. I keep things flexible and compassionate, so it fits what you need.
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help you focus on your strengths and what’s already working in your life. Together, we’ll set clear goals and build practical steps to move forward. This approach is all about keeping things positive and action-oriented, so you feel empowered to create the changes you want.
I use Strengths-Based Therapy to help you tap into your own resources and abilities. Together, we’ll focus on what you’re already good at and build from there to overcome challenges. This approach is about empowering you and highlighting your resilience throughout our work.
I use Humanistic Therapy to create a warm, supportive space where you can explore your feelings and values. Together, we’ll focus on your personal growth and self-understanding, helping you find meaning and authenticity in your life. This approach is all about honoring you as a whole person.
I use a Trauma-Informed Care approach to create a safe, respectful space where your experiences are understood and honored. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, focusing on healing and building resilience without retraumatizing. This approach helps you regain control and feel supported throughout your journey.
