I am yoruba native from Lagos, Nigeria, with vast experience (8 years) working with children, adolescents, adults and families both in my profession and personal life in different capacities and environment. This includes, hospital, schools, private practice, Office of Public Defender, Forensic Services, social services etc. I have a passion to impact individuals and recognizes the importance of collaborating with different systems in order to spark and support change in individuals. While my therapeutic approach extensively integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I also encompasses cultural approaches into my practice with individuals. I believe that while biology makes certain individuals predisposed to certain behaviors, an individual’s environment plays a major role in determining who an individual becomes. I have both a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work, with a clinical concentration and specialization in Children and Families. I hold a license as a LCSW-C in Maryland. I am also a board approved supervisor, and I have supervised MSW candidates that they embark on their journey into the field of Social Work.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the intake session, I will gather information from you so I can better serve you and address your needs. This will be completed by asking different ranges of open and closed questions so I can understand your journey and goals. During this session we may not dive into some interventions, however it will help us create a framework on how we can approach your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes me unique, is my take on therapy. I do not believe therapy is not a forever fix nor a forever services. As a therapist my goal is to work and met each client were they are at and assist in their journey of self actualization and treating the whole person. I believe that therapy should encourage and help clients build skills needed to be self sufficient. I take an approach of “do what works for you” (until it doesn't) and always remain open and honest with clients. Due to this I am always happy to make referrals and provide other therapy approaches if I believe my approach is not the most appropriate for a client. I want all my clients to achieve a better them and I am accepting differences. I provide an open, safe space and honest space. Therapy with me does not feel like "traditional" therapy if feels more like conversations that allow clients to put their walls down.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who comes as they are, authentically themselves, and is dedicated to their growth in therapy. Clients who are open to change and flexible to different ways of thinking. My ideal client will also be open to challenging themselves in the therapy space.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Sometimes we have to change the way we think in order to change our behaviors. I guide clients in challenging thoughts processes in order to combat some negative thoughts and behaviors as well as exploring how those thoughts form.

Motivational Interviewing

We all need someone to encourage us and meet us where we are at, both clinically and mentally. With motivational interviewing, I have been able to partner with clients in setting achievable goals in order to influence positive changes. I provide a person-centered approach, meeting clients where they are at to help explore and resolve their life stressors.

Psychoanalytic

I believe in order to work/understand with people, you have to look at the whole person. We are a product of our environment and experiences. I explore with clients different areas of their life and the impact their journey has had on their current issues. Clients are able to explore thought processes, childhood experiences and uncover different elements of their being that led to their decision making and/or contributed to their journey in life.
