Hello! I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical (LCSW-C) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) in Maryland. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Bowie State University, Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, and I am currently working toward a Doctorate in Christian Counseling as well. I consider my studies a nice mixture of mind, body, and spirit so I can help people identify how they can truly thrive in all aspects of their life. I don’t look to solve people’s problems, I often provide short term, solution focused therapy to help people figure out how they want help with solving their own problems. I think equipping people with necessary tools for success is how people end up best equipped to take and keep control of their circumstances, once they have learned everything they can from our partnership. Don’t worry, I am patient and sensitive to people’s needs because I know therapy can be scary and peace is my priority. However, I am a motivator and a teacher that is aiming for your success and healing at all times, so I tend to say what people need to hear, when they’re ready to hear it. Feel free to partner with me on your journey to recovery and see if I am a good fit for your needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start to build rapport so you can determine if I’m a good fit your needs. I think the success of therapy is about 80% based on whether you mesh well with your therapist or not. I will then guide you through some conversation about your needs and how I may be able to help. By the end of the first session, you will know some preliminary plans as to how I think we may be able to work together and you can tell me if you’re comfortable moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think a few of my strengths as a therapist are my abilities to listen and relate to people’s needs. I don’t think there is any “new” issue under the sun so my goal is to help people feel understood and heard, by myself, and by others. I also approach counseling in an informal way so it feels more like talking to a supporter/partner rather than an authoritative figure. I am humble and human first, so please don’t be thrown off by my education as if I will act like I know more about you than you do about yourself. I always look to prioritize what you need in the moment rather than “sticking to the plan,” you will quickly see what I mean…

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have a passion for people in general so I have worked with people from many different populations. I have had the most success working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and significant stress stemming from relationship issues and trauma. I also enjoy working with people that want a faith based perspective through the Christian lense as well. All people are welcome as behavioral health issues do not have any specific names on them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

It can be hard to understand why we think one way, then behave another, especially when we want something so bad. I use CBT to help people find balance when they think they want certain outcomes in their life but their behaviors don’t create those outcomes. We can work together, to see what can be changed, in hopes that you can start living more of the life you want to live!

Trauma Informed Care

I have been providing trauma informed care in the behavioral health field for over ten years. I have been a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) for the last five years to continue to deepen my understanding of the effects of trauma. I help people work toward freeing themselves from the fear that has often taken control of their mind and bodies even when they don’t know it. I carefully guide people through the process of healing by allowing them to hold the reins and merely being their partner in making their own discoveries about themselves.

Christian Counseling

I have been a Believer in Christ all my life even though I work with people from all walks of life. When interested, and only when a person requests Christian perspectives, I walk with people on a journey toward healing through faith-based counseling. This helps people connect their Christian principles with psychology and find a healthy balance in finding their peace. I believe in engaging all parts of a person to teach them to find the best solution to their problems, and maybe even their ultimate purpose in life to bring them fulfillment. I will go as far as people want to take their journey with the Lord as this is a part of my purpose in life.
