To all who come to his (hopefully) happy place! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Pennsylvania. I received my master's degree in psychology from Marywood College in 1991 and have been practicing in various counseling positions for over 30 years. I like to focus my practice on adults and teenagers who have not had the success they hoped for in counseling and are willing to explore something new. I utilize an eclectic approach utilizing techniques taken from behaviorism, person centered, strengths based, and cognitive psychology.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First a brief introduction of myself and my experience and training, in case the client has any questions, then I gather information from the client in an attempt to fully understand the issues the client is dealing with. This ensures that any direction suggested or taken is clearly addressing the client's unique concerns. This is essential as without fully understanding the problem, treatment would be at the very least, inefficient or, more importantly, ineffective. Prior to the end of the session, a plan is suggested which the client can consider between sessions for any adjustment. If time permits, a discussion of how the client might measure change or at least develop an understanding of their "baseline" functioning prior to treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Wisdom from experience (yep, I am old). A belief that therapists are no different from clients along with the belief that clients are "in charge" and "drive the session." Just because I have an idea about what might help doesn't mean I am correct. I recognize no matter how much a client is able to tell me in a session, they have more that is left untold. Ultimately, they know best, even if they have trouble putting their knowledge into words. I hope I can help them put these feelings into words and address any issues that the client has been challenged with in the past.
