As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 18 years of clinical experience—and more than 20 years in leadership and behavioral health programming—I’m deeply committed to helping individuals, couples, and families connect, heal, and thrive. I offer personalized, evidence-based counseling services for people facing a wide range of life challenges, from anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship issues, identity exploration, and performance struggles. I specialize in empowering clients across the lifespan, drawing on Reality Therapy and other client-centered approaches to help you take control of your life, reconnect with what matters most, and make meaningful, lasting change. Whether you’re seeking support through a difficult transition or ready to overcome long-standing obstacles, I provide a warm, collaborative space to clarify your goals and build the tools to achieve them.
Your first session with me is all about creating a foundation—one built on trust, honesty, and connection. I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve never done it before or have had mixed experiences in the past. My goal is to make you feel at ease, respected, and understood from the moment we begin. During our first meeting, we’ll focus on: Getting to know you—not just your challenges, but your strengths, values, and goals. Exploring what brings you to therapy—whether it’s a specific issue, a general sense that “something needs to change,” or support through a life transition. Clarifying what you want out of therapy—and how I can best support you in getting there. Setting realistic, personalized goals—that reflect what matters most to you. You can expect a conversational, judgment-free space where I’ll ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, and begin helping you connect the dots between where you are and where you want to be. I’ll also share how I work, what Reality Therapy and other strategies may look like in practice, and what our collaboration can offer you. Most importantly, this session is for you. You’re free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. There’s no pressure to have all the answers—just a commitment to exploring possibilities, building clarity, and taking that first empowered step toward change.
What sets my work apart is the balance I bring between clinical expertise, real-world experience, and a direct, practical approach that gets to the heart of what matters most to you. I don’t just listen—I help you make sense of what’s happening, take meaningful action, and start seeing progress in your daily life. I use Reality Therapy as a foundation, which means I focus on what you can control, what you truly want, and what steps will move you closer to the life you deserve. You’ll learn how to shift unhelpful patterns, improve your relationships, and make confident choices—without getting stuck in the past or overwhelmed by labels. What clients often tell me stands out is: I meet you where you are, without judgment—but I also challenge you when needed, with care and honesty. I help you see how your current behaviors are connected to your deeper needs, and how small changes can create real, lasting impact. I bring 20+ years of experience working with diverse populations, so I understand how to adapt the process to your unique situation. I offer a structured yet flexible process, so you don’t just talk—you grow, with clarity and direction. I provide insight and accountability while always honoring your autonomy and personal goals. Clients often leave sessions feeling more grounded, empowered, and clear about their next steps. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, family conflict, addiction recovery, or performance issues, we’ll work together to find solutions that are not only effective—but that actually feel right for you.
I work best with individuals who are ready to take an honest look at where they are in life—and are motivated to make meaningful change. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply unsure of what’s next, I provide a structured yet compassionate space to help you reconnect with your goals, values, and sense of purpose. I am particularly effective with: Teens and young adults navigating identity, academic stress, ADHD, behavioral challenges, or family conflict Adults and professionals seeking clarity, stress management, work-life balance, or improved relationships Individuals with trauma histories looking to reclaim control, rebuild trust, and move forward People in recovery from substance use or co-occurring disorders who need structure, accountability, and emotional support Those experiencing life transitions, such as career changes, parenthood, separation/divorce, or grief Clients who value direct, honest feedback and want a therapist who will both challenge and support them Individuals who feel like they’ve “tried everything” but are open to a more reality-based, empowering approach to therapy If you're looking for a therapist who combines clinical expertise with real-world perspective—someone who will meet you where you are and walk with you toward where you want to be—then we may be a great fit.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over two decades of clinical experience, I’ve found Reality Therapy to be one of the most practical and empowering approaches in helping clients take ownership of their lives and make meaningful changes. Developed by Dr. William Glasser, Reality Therapy emphasizes personal responsibility, the importance of present-focused behavior, and the power of choice. These principles have deeply influenced my work across various populations—from adolescents and young adults to couples and professionals navigating life transitions. At its core, Reality Therapy aligns with my belief that sustainable change happens when individuals begin to evaluate whether their current behaviors are helping them meet their basic needs—love and belonging, power, freedom, fun, and survival. Much of my work involves helping clients recognize disconnects between what they want and what they’re doing, and then collaboratively developing actionable steps toward more effective behaviors. In sessions, I often guide clients through a structured yet compassionate process: Establishing a trusting relationship – I provide a consistent, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe enough to reflect on their choices without shame or blame. Clarifying wants and needs – Many clients struggle to articulate what they truly want from relationships, work, or life. We work together to identify these needs clearly. Exploring current behaviors – I help clients assess whether their current actions are bringing them closer to, or further from, their goals. This phase is always done with curiosity, not criticism. Evaluating effectiveness – I ask purposeful questions like, “Is what you’re doing helping you get what you want?” or “What’s working, and what’s not?” Planning for change – We co-create practical, realistic plans that focus on what the client can control—their own behavior. I emphasize accountability and follow-up while allowing flexibility. Commitment without punishment – Instead of assigning blame or dwelling on past mistakes, we focus on building awareness, consistency, and the ability to try again with intention. Reality Therapy has been particularly effective in work with teens and young adults struggling with impulsivity, defiance, or self-doubt, as well as with adults in recovery, individuals managing ADHD, and clients with trauma histories. It provides a structure that promotes autonomy while fostering empathy and connection. Ultimately, Reality Therapy helps clients see that while they may not control everything that happens to them, they always have a say in how they respond. That sense of agency can be transformational—and it’s at the heart of the work I do every day.
