Hello, my name is Jean Drumm. I am a Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years experience. My approach to therapy is one of compassion and belief that individuals are resilient, and have the potential to be truly content with themselves, leading to stronger connections within the world around them. Through a trauma informed lens, we will explore what may be holding you from reaching your personal goals together.
During our first session, you will be asked to share what is bringing you to therapy. This may be overwhelming, as you are being asked to share your deepest thoughts and experiences with a stranger. I strive to make you as comfortable as possible from our first minute together. We will go at a pace that is comfortable for you. I will check in as we move through the intake process to make sure you are comfortable. You are also invited to tell me how you feel at anytime. Once we gather information, we will set a schedule to meet again, if you would like to proceed.
I strive to be welcoming. Your interests, individuality, feelings and goals are important to me. I hope to make you feel welcome and comfortable, so we can form a healthy therapeutic connection, in order to serve you best.
Are you an individual who is seeking therapy to better your life? Have you felt a lack of satisfaction in your relationships and/or self? I am here to assist you to identify the difficult experiences that have impacted who you are, and have created unhealthy patterns in your life. I also will help you to identify your positive strengths and power, which are within you, so you can free yourself of the struggle. I will offer you a judgement free, accepting space to move toward personal growth and self fulfillment.
I work with clients to develop self compassion, to decrease thoughts of shame and self criticism, to build self esteem and as a result, stronger connections with the world around them.
Using a humanistic approach, I assist individuals in recognizing and building upon their full potential, meeting the client where they are and building upon their strengths.
Utilizing the principles of relational therapy, I assist the client in recognizing how relationships within their lifetime, be it personal or within the culture, has shaped the way the operate within their relationships currently and also, how they view themselves within the world. The idea is to help the client recognize negative patterns of relationships and seek out healthier patterns. Success can begin with building trust within the the therapeutic relationship.
I utilize aspects of CBT within my practice, helping clients break down and recognize distorted thoughts for what they are. Helping clients work toward investigating the root of these thought patterns and reframing thoughts toward the reality of situations.
