Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pennsylvania. I received my Masters from Mount Aloysius College and have been practicing for a little over 3 years. My background stems from being an inpatient counselor working with drug and alcohol clients, as well as mental health. I found a great passion in helping people in those areas and would like to continue to do that on Grow Therapy.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and then identify why you are coming to therapy. By doing so, this will help me understand why you are here and then I can create a specific plan for us to work through in future sessions.
I think my greatest assets as a clinician are being able to help you identify the root of the problem that is causing the current issues/challenges, as well as being able to adapt and focus on what you need in each session.
Throughout my experience as a drug and alcohol counselor, I learned that mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and trauma were very common and correlated with substance abuse. Also, with substance use becomes destruction in relationships, where couples counseling was then facilitated. In addition, loss of hope, purpose, and passion became highly prevalent with clients in this field. With that being said, I would love to continue that work and help people with any type of addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and finding their purpose in life. Therapy can be life changing as I have seen it firsthand and I would love to take that step forward with you!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I was trained to utilize CBT as a drug and alcohol counselor. It became very effective with not only substance use issues, but as well as mental health concerns.
Motivational Interviewing
Utilizing MI can become highly effective, especially when the therapeutic alliance is established. MI allows the client to look inward and find the answers to their own questions/challenges when properly using this modality.
Couples Counseling
I provided couples counseling with multiple clients when I was a drug and alcohol counselor. When I worked inpatient, the client's significant other could not be in person at that time. We worked over the phone or via zoom. Even though it was not in person, I have found couples therapy online can still be very beneficial.
Existential
Existential therapy helps clients when a clear path in life cannot be identified and struggling to figure out their purpose.

Matthewvis unlike any other therapists I experienced before. He is engaging and challenges me to observe, see and understand. Meeting with Matt is something I hope to continue for a long time. I've made so much growth and having therapy has been something I look forward to and has been a great part of my healing journey.

I really appreciate how down-to-earth and direct Matt is. There’s sugar coating or overcomplicating things but also never harsh. He brings an outside perspective that I maybe wouldn’t have considered. I leave sessions feeling more grounded, more aware, and better equipped to handle what’s in front of me. Highly recommend if you want someone who’s authentic, insightful, and genuinely helpful.

Matthew's personality makes talking and opening up about my issues extremely easy. I felt like he actually cared about the things that are bothering me and the work that it will take to find some healing.
