“We deeply long for connection, to be seen and known for who we are without rejection. But we are terrified of the vulnerability that is required for that very contact” – Curt Thompson, The Soul of Shame. Do you wonder if your presence really matters? Is it easy for you to extend grace and compassion to those around you, but difficult to do the same for yourself? Maybe you long to be truly known and loved as your authentic self, but vulnerability scares you or you don’t even know how to begin. And maybe you aren’t even sure who you really are. Therapy creates a space where you can ask questions, get curious, and more deeply learn about yourself, giving you the power to make choices that set the course for a more fulfilling life.
Our time together would focus on you as a whole person – mind, body, spirit. We will create a relational foundational, a safe base, from which to explore your life story together. I believe within each person resides the potential for hope, resilience, rejuvenation, and growth. Your choice to reach out for professional support reflects your inner strength and dedication to your own well-being.
I'm just another human being trying to figure out how to most fully embrace this life I've been given, so I try to always show up in session as real and authentic. I want to know the humanity in you, the places where you feel confident and the places where you doubt. I'm interested in the little things of your life as well as the big ones. I think humor plays an important part in the counseling relationship in addition to space to hold the harder aspects of life.
I really enjoy walking alongside of people who are on a faith journey, defining their own personal beliefs and how those beliefs inform the way they see themselves and the world around them.
My approach is experiential, with a focus on emotion, through the lens of attachment theory, and will incorporate techniques from a range of therapeutic models
