As Jack Kornfield says, "No matter how difficult the past, you can always begin again today." Our history shapes us but does not define us. Are you looking for a therapist who can see how your unique, and sometimes difficult, experiences, as well as your values, interests, and goals, have helped you grow into the person you currently are? I will guide you through any barriers while we work together to develop and reach your goals.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, past therapy experiences, and what you are looking for with a new therapist. I encourage you to schedule a session with me so you can interview me to be sure that I am the best fit for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I focus on using a strength-based and client-led approach to therapy. I have experience working with trauma; I use trauma-informed interventions and psychoeducation. I incorporate parts of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my practice, including psychoeducation, reframing, coping skills, mindfulness, and assertiveness training. I use a playful and creative approach to therapy, including a sense of humor and creative activities suited to your needs. I use nonjudgemental, positive, and assertive communication to help you feel comfortable talking about anything you want to approach in sessions.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with teenagers and young adults. I have experience working with trauma, anxiety, gifted students, anger management, behavioral disorders, and ADHD. I also have experience with navigating difficult peer relationships and improving social skills. I enjoy working with cyber school students to navigate the benefits, but also the challenges, of an online learning environment. In addition, there are many life changes that begin in the teenage years; I can help navigate the life transitions including graduating high school and starting college or a career.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have basic training in DBT, and I incorporate Mindfulness skills in many of my sessions. I am planning on completing a DBT certification training in the near future.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I incorporate many Mindfulness skills in treatment, especially to help manage anxiety. I have completed a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training and I am a Level 1 Certified Yoga teacher.

Strength-Based

Every person has many natural strengths. I utilize and help build on each individual's strengths in the therapeutic process.

Psychoeducation

I believe that a major part of healing is understanding. I will use psychoeducation to help to understand mental health and how to manage symptoms.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have completed the Trauma-Focused CBT training. I incorporate components of this treatment method with people who have experienced trauma, though I do not follow the format exactly.
