Hey everyone! I am here to help with providing ways to get started in developing a new and happier you. I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters Degree in Counseling and I am also a certified rehabilitation counselor, having worked with youth and adults with learning disabilities. In addition I have a post-graduate certificate in Addiction Studies. I am a believer that if the mind and body are focused on goals, obstacles can be overcome, as you become more confident and powerful. We will begin our journey together as we work in small steps toward developing your new goals. These will always be your goals and I am here to help guide you toward them. My work begins by listening to you and then we will summarize what your expectations are. Then I will reflect to you what you have communicated. I will tell you what we can expect to change and how we will be able to make that change happen. My therapeutic techniques are driven by your needs and how you will respond to the new direction. No one said life would not send us off the pretty path that we all want to remain on. It happens. I can't think of anyone who has not had obstacles to overcome. I specialize in helping people overcome rejection, low self-esteem, work issues, disabilities, anxiety, living in the past, how to forgive themselves, addictions, how to stop living your life as the victim, and how to love and accept yourself and others.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

in the first session, we will work on getting an understanding of your symptoms. Also, we will work together to identify what goals you have, how long treatment may take, and the expected format in each session. *Note the therapist does not complete FMLA forms.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

We all need to learn how to silence our inner critic. We all have one. You know that voice that tells us we are dumb and not worth anything? Let's work to make that voice go away. I have had great success working with clients who have suffered mental abuse, anxiety, rejections, alcoholism, family issues, relationship issues, and depression. I have worked with women who feel tired and stressed from everyday life and all the demands. Are you an adult child from a substance abuse family, who doesn't understand why life throws you so many obstacles? Did you know you can brighten your room by painting it in light colors and adding some plants? There are things that you can do for a better mood. Let's see what you need to be happy!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Those suffering from loss of a loved one, grief. Women working to build self-esteem and independence. Those struggling with the aging process. Anyone who is afraid of changes. Adults who were children of alcoholic parents. Those suffering from OCD and anxiety Adults going thru relationship changes. Adults who suffered trauma, PTSD. Adults suffering from work issues when dealing with coworkers.

I like that Patricia concentrated on what I can control. She actually encouraged me to move past the hurt by focusing on me. She realized my strengths and possibilities to handle the ordeal that brought me to seek out therapy. It was easy talking to her and I look forward to continuing sessions in the future.

Patricia is a great listener, came prepared for our session and was wonderful at making connections. Gave me a bit of what to expect for our next session which was also helpful for me.

I like that we discuss goals week by week. I am at the beginning of my journey of addiction. I like to keep in close contact week by week so i can obtain my goals. And keep on track.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

According to the cognitive model, for every situation in life, we have automatic thoughts. These thoughts influence us emotionally, psychologically, and how we behave. The way to interpret a situation determines how we will act and react in the situation. CBT also recognizes that the way we think about ourselves, and others, influences our automatic thoughts. CBT addresses our self-doubts, our ineffective actions, and our incorrect assumptions about ourselves.

Motivational Interviewing

The best way to make changes in your life is when you are motivated and decide you have enough reasons to move forward. Motivational interviewing is about the therapist asking questions that will give the client insight and motivation to want change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional (CMIP). Try mindfulness 2-5 minutes a day to help to shut down the stress response. Incorporate into your daily routine.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Unwanted thoughts and feelings can be treated with ACT. Let’s find your values and goals then work to move towards them.
