Hi there, my name’s Ephraim Tokar. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 20+ years of experience. My specialties consist of relationships, men’s issues, career counseling, and psychosomatic illnesses. I received my Bachelors degree in Child Psychology, working initially with the adolescent population before transitioning over to adults. I then received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Whether it's individuals or couples, I'm happy to get to work with whomever comes my way. I do my best to facilitate a warm, trusting environment. Looking forward to meeting with you soon!
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, substance use, or simply feeling like you no longer have control over your life. You may know that you want things to change but feel unsure about where to begin. That is where therapy can help.
I believe therapy should be a safe space where you feel comfortable being honest about what you are experiencing without fear of judgment. My personality is warm, compassionate, understanding, and straightforward. I will meet you where you are while also encouraging you to look more closely at the thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that may be keeping you from moving forward. I am here to support you, but I also want to help you recognize your own strength and ability to create change in your life.
I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also use different therapeutic approaches based on who you are, what you have experienced, and what you need from therapy. I understand that therapy is not one size fits all, so our work together will be tailored to your individual needs, culture, identity, strengths, and goals.
Both my personal and professional experiences have taught me that healing is not always easy or straightforward. It takes honesty, patience, self compassion, and a willingness to do the work. You do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You simply need to be willing to begin.
Together, we will identify what may be keeping you stuck, develop healthier ways to manage life’s challenges, and work toward the life you truly want. We will work together to help you become more intentional with your life and mindful with your healing.

There is a moment in every person’s story when something says, “I can’t keep doing this the same way.” That moment matters. It may be quiet, messy, unexpected, or long overdue—but it can also be the beginning of something different. After more than 20 years in behavioral health and over 11 years as a clinician, I’ve learned that therapy is not about having all the answers. It’s about having a place to stop, breathe, tell the truth about where you are, and discover where you want to go next.
I am a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. I love connecting with people in my personal life as well as professionally. I am passionate and committed to helping my clients work toward maximizing their mental health and overall functioning. My therapy approach is one of empathy and partnering with my clients to help them understand their symptoms better.
I am licensed in three states (NY, NC, and SC) and have 8 years total of clinical experience. My career started in North Carolina when I got my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University and completed my internship serving as a counselor in an inpatient substance use treatment facility. After that, most of my career was spent serving diverse populations in New York City, in multiple settings of care including substance use treatment and community mental health treatment facilities, and private practice settings. I worked with a heavily diverse, international, and multicultural population from many backgrounds. Over time I had immersive experience building a niche working with LGBTQ+ clients, with a particularly strong following of gay men navigating complexities in their identity, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships. I also worked with clients from all walks of life navigating concerns around trauma, addiction, mood disorders, major life transitions, and concerns regarding intimate relationships.
I consider my counseling approach to be ecletic. I incorperate concepts from many different modalities and adapt them to the unique needs and personalities of my clients. Some of the major counseling theories I draw from include Person-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognative Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and many others.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy should feel like a real conversation—not a place where you’re judged or expected to have all the answers. I work with teens, adults, and parents who may be dealing with anxiety, ADHD, major life changes, or simply feeling stuck and overwhelmed.
My style is warm, honest, and straightforward. I’ll listen, help you make sense of what’s going on, and give you practical tools to actually move forward. Sometimes you need validation, sometimes you need a different perspective, and sometimes you just need someone to help you untangle the 37 tabs open in your brain. We’ll figure it out together.
“MAC” is A licensed clinical social worker and military veteran, who has dedicated her career to helping others navigate life's most difficult challenges since the 90’s. Her journey in the field has been shaped by both invaluable professional experience and a deep personal understanding of the importance of therapy and support.

Her diverse professional background includes independent work as an EAP provider with several Fortune 500 companies, consulting and being employed with both public and private law enforcement and social service agencies in New York City.
After returning from an extended sabbatical, a period she credit with benefiting both her self and the clients through focused reflection on personal development and professional growth. She have renewed her mission: to serve and align with their clients' needs through counseling, advocacy, and connecting people to viable opportunities.
She is a vocal advocate for engaging in uncomfortable but necessary conversations about self, systems, economics, inequality, race-related stress, and trauma. She believe that while it may be unpopular to be brave, and unacceptable to create spaces for chaos and fabricated narratives, silence is no longer an option.
Guided by the words of James Baldwin—"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced, “ she continue the work to improve clients' well-being and help them thrive.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and U.S. Navy veteran who provides culturally responsive therapy to adolescents ages 14 and older and adults. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your whole self and feel seen, heard, and understood without judgment. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients can be honest about what they are experiencing while developing practical tools to help them move forward.
I work with clients experiencing depression, grief and loss, major life transitions, relationship and family challenges, low self-esteem, difficulty with emotional regulation, and periods of feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next. With adolescents, I enjoy helping young people navigate identity development, self-esteem, peer and family relationships, school stress, emotional regulation, and the challenges that come with transitioning into adulthood.
Cultural competence is an important part of my work. I have a particular passion for working with clients of color and recognize that culture, family expectations, identity, community, and lived experiences can influence how we understand ourselves and how we experience the world. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where these experiences can be openly explored and respected rather than overlooked.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, practical, and direct. I don’t believe therapy has to feel overly clinical or disconnected from your everyday life. We will work together to identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, recognize your strengths, develop healthier ways of coping, and create realistic changes that support the life you want to build. Whether you are an adolescent figuring out who you are or an adult navigating a new chapter, therapy can be a place to grow, reconnect with yourself, and move forward with greater confidence.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nine years of experience treating depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, life transitions, and long-standing patterns in how people relate to themselves and others. I see mental health as the ability to perceive reality accurately, including the differences between yourself and others, and to respond to it effectively. I tailor my approach to your needs, whether that's practical life challenges, rigid thought patterns, or emotional pain held in the body after trauma. I also help you untangle enmeshed family relationships: recognizing where your own feelings and needs end and others' begin, and setting boundaries without guilt. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic theory. Effective therapy, in my view, means both challenging the thinking and relational patterns that keep you stuck and learning to understand and regulate the emotions underneath them.

Great to meet you!
I want you to know that when you come into therapy with me, you don’t have to pretend, minimize, or hold everything together. You get to show up exactly as you are — we take it from there together. My favorite part of this work has always been sitting with people one‐on‐one. That’s where real connection and real healing happen. I genuinely enjoy getting to know who you are, what you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping might feel different.
My style is warm, steady, and honest. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you understand the experiences and patterns that are shaping your life. I’m also practical — I like to offer tools and strategies you can actually use in your day‐to‐day life, not just in the therapy room. I work with people dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, major transitions, and substance use concerns. Something I tell clients often is this: I don’t want you to just feel better — I want you to be well. Feeling better can be temporary. Being well means building insight, healing, and lasting change.
When you work with me, you get someone who shows up fully — present, steady, honest, and genuinely invested in your well‐being. I’m not here to give you quick fixes or surface‐level advice. I’m here to help you understand yourself more deeply, heal what’s been ignored or pushed aside, and build a life that feels more grounded and true to who you are. Hello, I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Albany University in New York and have been practicing for over 12 years. Some of the best experience as a therapist have been working with teens, young adults, parents, and the queer community - sometimes these "population" overlap of course; I love working with people seeking to bring their various histories, and identities into cohesion.
I’m a licensed psychotherapist working with adults who may appear high-functioning on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally unsettled beneath the surface. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, self-doubt, or persistent patterns they can’t quite untangle on their own.
My style is thoughtful, steady, and insight-oriented. I integrate practical tools for emotional regulation with deeper exploration of relational patterns and attachment dynamics. I believe therapy should feel both grounding and meaningful — a place where you can slow down, understand yourself more clearly, and begin shifting patterns that no longer serve you.
Clients often describe me as calm, direct, and attuned. I aim to create a space that feels safe enough for honesty and structured enough for real change. My work focuses not only on reducing symptoms, but on building emotional clarity, stability, and more secure ways of relating — to others and to yourself.

They appreciate the journey of self-discovery and are eager to gain insights that can lead to meaningful transformation in their life.

I tailor therapy to each person, recognizing that no two paths forward look the same.
I believe change is possible—even when things feel difficult—and I aim to walk alongside you in a way that feels collaborative, grounded, and forward-moving.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been practicing for over 18 years. In my clinical opinion, all therapeutic approaches come from a place of strength, validation and compassion. In my work, I focus on the concerns you feel comfortable sharing while validating your experiences, creating a compassionate and safe space which allows you to effect change and move past pain, loss, trauma and regret. I aim to teach you that the present moment is truly the gift we have, even if it doesn't always feel that way. Our past is behind us, it can neither hurt us any longer nor be changed. We do not know the future, it is not yet visible. Attempting to prepare for what is to come or holding tight to what is no more, takes us away from the present, the moments we have right now, preventing us from embracing the life we dream of. Old messages, hurts and grief often keep us stuck, holding onto a past that will always be a part of who we are, but in no way defines us. We are not "what" we have endured, rather it is the "what" which forged our strengths, awareness and resilience. The story we create is not written by anyone other than ourselves. The truth in life is that we are all good as we are, right now, in this moment. And the beauty in life is that we can grow to be better, no matter what we may have been told, witnessed or lived. You matter, your journey matters, your recovery is what you decide, what you want and I am proud to be a partner to you in this. Even if you select another therapist, remember you are worth it, always.

For the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of helping people navigate the complicated, messy, and often deeply meaningful work of understanding themselves. I believe therapy can be a place to slow down-to step outside of the noise and begin taking a more examined look at your life, your patterns, your relationships and the choices you've been making. My approach is grounded in the belief that our minds and nervous system are constantly trying to protect us. Many of the patterns that can leave us feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected or overwhelmed once served an important purpose. I am interested in helping you understand why these patterns developed, what they may be trying to communicate and whether they still serve you in the life you're living now. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and mindfulness practices. I don't believe there is one right way to do therapy, so our work will be collaborative and tailored to you.
