My name is Rachel. I have been serving the LORD for 30 years now and I love to help people walk their journey well. I will say, “I have been there and done that!” This rollercoaster of life poses many challenges, but I have learned that you can have peace in the process. That is what I offer through my counseling services. I am ordained as a minister and am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York since 2006, although I currently live in Florida. I provide Telehealth sessions.
In our first session, we will take some time to get to know one another, to find out what your needs are, and what our compatibility may be to work through those needs. I will need to ask some questions to clarify details. I am pretty casual by nature, so I will meet you where you are at.
I am very real with my clients. I have had many clients who have worked with me for a significant amount of time and developed amazing results. Others I work with for a short time and they achieve their goals and complete treatment and have done very well. I am here to help you reach your goals. I will respect your preferences regarding your Christian traditions, but will always encourage you to grow and learn in your faith. I can help in this way, as you wish.
I am a Christian therapist for adults who align with Christian beliefs, no matter how well they are doing with walking that out. I primarily serve women, but I am willing to meet with some men seeking a Christian therapist. I am experienced with working with anxiety and depression, grief and loss, substance abuse, sex therapy needs, growing in the Lord, and coping skills. I currently see clients from New York State and am able to see clients who live in Florida through my New York license. All sessions take place via Telehealth services in individual sessions and occasionally group therapy sessions are available, which I love to provide.
As a seasoned Christian woman and therapist, I meet my clients where they are at in their spiritual growth process. I help them to develop a healthy relationship with Christ, themselves, and others.
Our behavior affects the way that we think and the way that we think affects our behavior. It’s important to fix our faulty thoughts and our faulty behaviors. You can’t have one without the other. We will evaluate together what is working for you and what is not and we will develop a plan from there.
I am happy to utilize any sources for the benefit of my clients. I have some training in mindfulness and narrative therapy. I utilize Christian-based counseling as the ideal model and have the most experience with cognitive behavioral therapy. I have found this quite effective across a multitude of needs. I will utilize psychoeducation regularly. I have also been learning more about somatic therapy and EMDR, recognizing that the body has a memory of its own, and many symptoms of experiences are held within the body. We will collaborate the best course of action to achieve your best results throughout treatment.
