Kathy Wright
Hello! I am an LCSW with over 30 years of experience working with adults, children and families. My experience has primarily been in outpatient and intensive outpatient mental health treatment. My goal is to help my clients work toward more peace and confidence as they navigate the challenges of life.
I typically work with a client to create at least one actionable activity for the time between sessions.
My experience is that most people know how they can improve their mood/meet their goals, but need someone to help shine a light on the path forward.
First session
In our first session together, we’ll begin with brief introductions, and then begin the work of identifying issues and possible solutions. I believe it is an honor hear a personal story, and I will be sensitive to the time it takes to build trust. But I also understand that clients are coming to therapy to help create a path forward, and the first session will provide next steps.
Strengths
In addition to a full “toolbox” of assessment and intervention tools, I have a warm and engaging style. I gravitate toward methods from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, using a trauma-informed approach. I typically work with a client to create at least one actionable activity for the time between sessions. My clients tell me I am easy to talk to and also that they see results. I am collaborative, working to connect and create solutions together.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety or other mood issues and who are looking for skills to build their resilience and their coping skills. Those who are seeking to improve their mood, clarify future goals, enhance overall wellbeing and enjoy better personal relationships is someone that I can serve.
Treatment methods
Eclectic
As every issue and challenge is unique, so is the path to resilience and change. I am skilled and experienced with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and take a person-centered and trauma-informed approach.
