New to Grow
Thank you for being here, my name is Valerie! I am passionate about social justice, mental health and a variety of other issues. I earned my master’s in social work at Columbia University in 2014 and have worked for over a decade in NYC with people who are experiencing severe mental illness, family trauma, chronic illness, end of life, grief and a variety of other life experiences. I offer compassionate, personalized care to help you navigate life’s challenges. I emphasize respect for other cultures, as I am biracial and of Southeast Asian identity.
Feeling stuck or lost in life is common and therapy is a useful tool to navigate this with guidance and support. You don't have to go through this feeling alone, anxious, or depressed. A first session may include some background questions, a review of the questionnaires, and a casual discussion of some goals you may have in therapy.
I offer a kind, warm approach that helps to challenge negative and harmful thinking.
I think we all come to a time in our lives when we are going through transitions. Clients who are struggling with direction in life, how they feel, insecurities, low self esteem--this is a great time for therapy! I have a great deal of experience in treating depression, anxiety, grief/loss as well as complex romantic or family relationships. I serve adults in individual sessions.
