Hi! My name is Sam and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in New York. I received my Masters from Pace University and have been practicing post-graduate for 5 years. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients. With a compassionate approach and evidence-based techniques, I work collaboratively to help people navigate life’s challenges, improve their mental well-being, and achieve personal growth. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking to understand yourself better, I’m here to guide you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first therapy session with me, you can expect a relaxed, no-pressure environment. We’ll talk about what’s been going on for you and what you hope to get out of therapy, but don’t worry—there’s no need to share everything right away unless you feel ready. I’ll also cover the basics, like how therapy works and the fact that what you share stays between us. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable and supported, and hopefully, you’ll leave feeling like it was a positive start to your journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to deeply understand and connect with my clients. I approach each session with empathy, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard and supported. I also believe in the power of humor—it can lighten difficult moments and remind us that growth doesn’t always have to be heavy or serious. By blending warmth, understanding, and humor, I aim to help you navigate challenges in a way that feels compassionate and relatable, allowing for genuine progress in your personal journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With a strong background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I am deeply passionate about helping clients transform their lives. In both individual and group settings, I guide patients in challenging and reframing negative thought patterns that often hinder their progress. CBT equips individuals with practical skills to identify cognitive distortions, develop healthier coping strategies, and foster a more positive mindset. I find great fulfillment in witnessing my clients’ growth and resilience as they learn to navigate their thoughts and emotions more effectively. By empowering them to take an active role in their mental health journey, I help create lasting change that enhances their overall well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

With extensive experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I am passionate about helping clients develop the skills they need to manage intense emotions and improve their relationships. In both individual and group settings, I guide patients through the core components of DBT, including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This structured approach empowers individuals to better understand their emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors, and cultivate healthier coping mechanisms. Witnessing my clients’ progress and their ability to create meaningful changes in their lives is incredibly rewarding, and I am dedicated to supporting them on their journey toward greater emotional stability and fulfillment.

Psychoeducation

In my work, I have found psychoeducation to be a vital component in empowering clients on their mental health journey. By providing clear, accessible information about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and treatment options, I help clients and their families better understand the challenges they face. This knowledge not only demystifies the therapeutic process but also fosters a sense of agency and collaboration in treatment. Through workshops, individual sessions, and group discussions, I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel equipped to ask questions, express concerns, and actively engage in their own healing. Witnessing the positive impact of psychoeducation on clients' confidence and resilience is incredibly rewarding.
