New to Grow
Hello, I'm Salisa, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and founder of Strong Roots & Resilient Minds Therapy. Like many of my clients, I understand the reality of balancing multiple roles, navigating life's challenges, and carrying responsibilities while still trying to care for yourself. I know how easy it can be to put yourself last while caring for everyone around you, and I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. As a therapist, I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without pressure, shame, or the expectation that you have everything figured out. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, motherhood, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life, my goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported. My approach is warm, genuine, and strengths-based. I believe healing happens when we are given the opportunity to explore our experiences safely while also recognizing the resilience we've developed along the way. Together, we'll identify your strengths, build practical tools for navigating challenges, and work toward creating a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling. You don't have to carry everything alone. Therapy can be a place to pause, reflect, heal, and grow—and I would be honored to walk alongside you in that journey.
Your first session is a chance for us to begin building a trusting relationship and explore what has brought you to therapy. We'll discuss your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I prioritize creating a safe, supportive space where you can share at your own pace. Together, we'll identify areas for growth, uncover existing strengths, and create a plan that supports your healing and long-term well-being.
I take a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that focuses not only on challenges but also on the resilience and capabilities you already possess. I believe that every person has strengths that can serve as a foundation for healing, growth, and transformation, even when they may be difficult to see. By integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care, I help clients develop practical tools while fostering self-awareness, self-compassion, and emotional resilience. My goal is to create a balance between processing difficult experiences and helping clients recognize their progress, build on their successes, and move forward with confidence. Clients often describe me as supportive, genuine, and empowering. Whether you're healing from trauma, navigating motherhood, strengthening your relationship, or managing anxiety and life transitions, I work alongside you to help you reconnect with your strengths, cultivate resilience, and create a life that feels aligned with your values and goals.
I am passionate about working with individuals and couples who are ready to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful change in their lives. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or exhausted from carrying the weight of past experiences while trying to manage the demands of everyday life. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and maternal mental health concerns, including pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, parenting stress, identity changes, and the emotional challenges that often accompany caregiving. I also work with clients who have spent years putting others' needs first and are looking to reconnect with themselves, establish healthier boundaries, and improve their overall well-being. For couples, I enjoy supporting partners who are navigating parenthood, relationship stress, communication difficulties, and the impact of individual mental health challenges on their relationship. Whether you're adjusting to life with children, feeling disconnected from your partner, struggling to balance responsibilities, or working through conflict, therapy can provide a space to strengthen your connection and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. My ideal clients don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. They simply need a willingness to explore, learn, and grow. Together, we'll build on your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and work toward healing, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.
