Hi, I'm Key Hammonds, LCSW and yes, I'm the therapist who will make you laugh and help you breakthrough in the same session. I'm a NYC native, a mom, a community member, and a Licensed Clinician with over 18 years of experience. I earned my Master's in Social Work from NYU, but honestly some of my most important education has come from living life, navigating motherhood, doing my own healing work and overcoming adversity. This taught me resilience isn't just a buzzword, it's a practice. I practice what I preach. I believe deeply in therapy not as a last resort, but as an everyday act of self-care and courage. I will show up for you with honesty, humor, warmth, and zero judgment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is simply about you. We'll ease in together, talking about what brought you here, what's been sitting heavy on your heart, and what you're hoping life feels like on the other side of this work. There's no pressure to have it all figured out or to share more than you're ready to. I'll meet you exactly where you are. You can expect warmth, genuine conversation, and probably a laugh or two, because healing doesn't have to feel heavy all the time. I also believe that real healing lives in the body, not just the mind. So alongside traditional talk therapy, I love to weave in somatic practices like deep breathing, grounding exercises, and holding space for you to simply feel what's present without rushing past it. Because sometimes what we need most isn't more thinking, it's permission to just breathe. By the time we wrap up our first session, my hope is that you leave feeling heard, seen, and just a little lighter like you finally found a space that's truly yours.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My life experiences are what make my sessions truly unique. Having navigated loss and trauma myself, I bring a depth of understanding that goes beyond textbook knowledge. I am less likely to just sit quietly but, I will hold space, push back, and challenge you, because real growth rarely happens in comfort zones. My own healing journey has taught me that with the right tools, you can overcome adversity, heal, and eliminate the barriers blocking you from being your best self. I don't just believe that transformation is possible,I am living proof of it.

My treatment methods

Interpersonal

is a short-term, structured talk therapy designed to treat mood disorders. It works by helping you improve your communication skills and resolve relationship conflicts, operating on the premise that emotional well-being is heavily tied to the quality of your personal interactions.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

is a goal-directed, strengths-based approach to therapy, it focuses on your present strengths and envisions a positive future to help you make practical, manageable changes quickly.

Narrative

is a form of psychotherapy that empowers individuals to become the experts in their own lives. It operates on the core principle that people are separate from their problems, encouraging clients to identify their values, challenge limiting beliefs, and actively "rewrite" their personal life stories.

Humanistic

is a non-judgmental, client-centered approach that focuses on your present experience, inherent goodness, and potential for growth. Rather than diagnosing conditions, it empowers you to understand your feelings, build self-esteem, and reach your full potential
