Our first session will be a time when we can meet each other to determine if I am someone you would feel comfortable working with. We complete an intake assessment where I am asking questions about the history of the issues bringing you to therapy as well as how these issues are affecting your life. I encourage you to only share what you feel comfortable with in our first meeting.
I am an intuitive and active listener who finds deep fulfillment in helping others. My capacity for empathy has been lifelong and has led me on the counseling path. I treat my clients with care but full knowledge that it is their journey and I am only the guide. I believe that promoting self-advocacy alongside self-care is monumental in therapy. Building the therapeutic relationship is paramount for there to be comfort doing the work involved in therapy to work on the goals clients have come with.
I work with clients on improving their quality of life through boundary setting, advocating for needs and identifying what is feeling missing from their lives. I enjoy working with individuals who experience chronic illness and pain issues to improve their wellbeing as well as individuals seeking to reach recovery from addiction. As a partner to a person with chronic illness, I appreciate having the opportunity to support other caregivers as they navigate caring for their loved ones and keeping their own needs in mind.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I usually practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy skills to create distance between your negative self-talk and you as an individual . ACT uses defusion as a way to do this and I teach the skills necessary to practice this in your time outside of therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in other instances when negative self-talk will benefit from being challenged with evidence against it as well as working toward behavioral goals.
