New to Grow
My name is Vera and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of PA. As a therapist, I have worked in many different settings and have learned much along the way. I strive to meet clients where they are and work collaboratively from there. My approach is rooted in kindness, empathy, and respect. My experience includes family therapy, inpatient eating disorder clinic, outpatient, child therapy and group therapy. I help you find tools that work best for you and help you identify your strengths to move forward in your healing process.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first meeting, I would like to get to know you and what goals you would like to work on with me. I would like to learn about your interests and what matters to you most. We can explore your core beliefs and ways that you understand and interpret the world. In our first session, I may provide tools we can utilize as we continue working together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
The most important factor for me is for my clients to feel heard, understood, and respected. When you feel ready, I will introduce you to therapeutic techniques while honoring your pace and readiness for change. My approach is tailored to your unique needs and you remain the director of your own therapeutic journey. In my toolbox, I have a variety of skills we can use together, including worksheet, the empty chair technique, muscle relaxation and thought challenging exercises.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Feeling "stuck" in your own mind? Together, we can work on challenging negative thoughts that may prevent you from living your best life. I have worked with clients who experienced body image distortions and utilize evidence-based practices to help manage and challenge these patterns. I promote body positivity and support clients in developing a healthier and more compassionate relationship with their bodies. I also work with teens and adults who are seeking a renewed sense of direction and are looking to rediscover purpose and joy in their lives. I have also provided family therapy and have helped shift unhelpful patterns within their dynamics. Whether you are seeking a renewed sense of self or hoping to reconnect with others, I'd be honored to work with you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my sessions, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This method helps my clients indicate distorted thought patterns and modify their perceptions. Practicing CBT can help you become "unstuck" from an unhealthy thought cycle and free you from distorted thinking. Together, we can challenge these patterns while also finding strenghts that support your growth and help shift negative thinking.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
We all feel emotions, however it may be difficult to sit there with them. In my sessions, I implement Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. This method focuses on being present with what you are feeling, and acknowledging your experience without judgment. Together, we process your experience through practices such as journaling, self-soothing, and acceptance.
