My professional focal points include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with a person-centered approach. My therapy style is one that assists clients in becoming their own agents of change. I use a down-to-earth humanistic approach, which focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment for authentic self-expression. I blend these approaches to fit the individual needs of the client. I work from the “here and now” perspective to assist clients with building coping strategies and engaging in mindfulness activities to alleviate their concerns that motivated them to come to therapy.
During the first session I usually move straight into identifying and beginning to plan around the presenting concern. I encourage clients to ask me as many questions as they would like to create a space of comfortability and trust.
I feel like i am a very flexible and patient person; however, I am straightforward and will tell things like they are. I think that is a strength of mine,
Clients who are curious are the clients that i work well with. They don't need to know what they want but they need to have a desire to question what hasn't been working in their lives.
I am a solution focused here and now therapist. I accompany clients on their journeys of self discovery, planning and problem solving around the difficulties in their lives. I use CBT to focus on how clients thinking and feel about the different ways they move in their lives and evaluate if they are getting the results they want. If not we go back and review and process their thoughts and feelings and in many cases reframe and strategies around how to improve how they thing and feel within the context of their respective lives.
