Hi there, I go by Maddy and I've been working in the field for about 3 years helping clients at the worst points of their lives find a sense of relief from their suffering. I work with a diverse range of clients, ideally those who have a very loud inner critic, want to be more outspoken and advocate for themselves, and those who feel that they aren't cut out for this weird thing called life. I have a particular affinity towards anyone experiencing the above with the added layer of AuDHD. If any of the above speaks to you, please reach out and schedule an intake appointment.

Hi, I'm Kara thanks for taking the time to check out my profile. As a therapist who has been in the field for almost a decade and a person who has also gone to therapy themselves, I know how scary it can be to take that first step. At the same time think of all you could gain better relationships, more life satisfaction, healthy boundaries, good communication skills, resiliency etc. In my 12 years of practice as a therapist, I've seen that many people struggle to be kind to themselves. A key part of my work is helping clients change their inner voice from critical and confusing to logical and empathetic. I currently work with all ages and am inclusive, trauma informed, and collaborative. I feel that as the client you are the expert of yourself and focus on teaching you to be your own therapist.

Hi, I’m Christina, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I know starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when you’re used to handling things on your own. My goal is to create a space where you can talk openly about what’s going on without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. I work with individuals who may be dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, life changes, or simply feeling overwhelmed. In our sessions, we’ll take time to understand what’s contributing to how you’re feeling, identify patterns that may no longer be working for you, and find healthier ways to manage what life is bringing your way. I’m easygoing and supportive in my approach, but I’ll also challenge you when needed. Therapy with me isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about having a place to work through things, learn more about yourself, and figure out what works best for you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) with a decade of clinical experience supporting individuals through some of life's most difficult challenges. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling from Central Connecticut State University, with specialized training in addictions recovery, mental health, and rehabilitation. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of clients across diverse and often high-stakes settings. Most recently, I spent seven years as a Licensed Professional Counselor at Garner Correctional Institution, providing individual counseling, group therapy, and crisis intervention to justice-involved adults navigating complex mental health needs, trauma, and reentry challenges. Prior to that, I served as an Outpatient Therapist at Farrell Treatment Center, where I helped establish a new Intensive Outpatient Program and delivered trauma-informed, gender-responsive care to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. My earlier work with the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut and the Hospital for Special Care deepened my understanding of how neurological, behavioral, and emotional health intersect. I work with men, women, teenagers, and young adults of any gender, race, religious background, or sexual orientation who are open to learning new skills and committed to meaningful goals in therapy. Clients often come to me seeking support with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the lasting effects of adverse life experiences. Drawing on evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I tailor treatment to each client's strengths, values, and goals. Therapy I feel is a chance to learn and shift patterns in our lives. Relationships are a key part of life but are difficult on many levels and we learn the way that we communicate with other from our experience. Learning and understanding that experience can help us make the changes that we would like to see in life. I believe in having an open space free from judgement were people can explore who they are and learn how to use that to change their lives and their relationships with others. I work with people from all different perspectives and believe that we are the products of our experience and that we can find ways to change the patterns that are not helpful for us. Communication is key in relationships but it is something that we have trouble with but are not always aware of the impact. Learning patterns, identifying the meaning that we put to our experiences and seeing our strengths are ways that allow us to become the person that we want to be without losing who we are.

Hi, I'm Ashley, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Reiki II practitioner. I believe that somewhere underneath the anxiety, the self-doubt, and the patterns that keep repeating, there is a version of you that already knows the way. My job isn't to fix you. It's to create a space steady enough that you can actually hear yourself. Together we get curious about the thoughts that won't quiet down, the emotions that feel bigger than the moment, the behaviors that keep showing up even when you don't want them to, and what all of it is actually trying to tell you. I utilize a holistic approach, bringing tools into our work that help you understand what's happening in your mind and body when you're overwhelmed, so you can actually do something about it instead of just surviving it. But more than any method or modality, I show up as a real person walking alongside you, trusting that you are the expert on your own life. If you're ready to listen to that wiser part of yourself and create meaningful change, I'd be honored to walk with you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve worked in the mental health field for 27 years across substance use treatment, outpatient care, and hospital settings. I’ve supported individuals and families through crisis, transition, and long-term growth. I work well with young adults, adults, and families who are navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with men who may struggle to express emotions directly and instead feel stuck in withdrawal, irritability, or self-doubt. As a veteran, I understand the mindset and pressures that can come with military life. Across all of my work, I aim to provide a grounded, steady presence where honesty, insight, and meaningful change can take place.

Richard Spears, LPC, LADC, has dedicated over 20 years to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health and substance abuse. Many people experience feelings of being pulled in countless directions, struggling to balance the demands of relationships, work, and personal health. If you find it challenging to practice self-compassion, you’re not alone. I specialize in supporting high performers who wrestle with anxiety and the risk of burnout, guiding them toward strategies to regain their equilibrium. In our collaborative sessions, we will take the time to pinpoint the specific areas in your life that feel out of sync and develop a customized plan to bring you back to a sense of balance and fulfillment. My approach is holistic, addressing the interconnections between your mind, body, and spirit. By integrating mindfulness techniques, we will work on enhancing your self-awareness and fostering a deeper, more positive relationship with yourself. Together, we will explore the roots of feelings of overwhelm, unravel any relationship difficulties, and address persistent cycles of anxiety and depression that may be impacting your life. I understand that seeking therapy can evoke feelings of fear or uncertainty, but I want you to know that you are making a powerful choice for your well-being. In our therapeutic relationship, I will provide a safe, nurturing environment where you can heal and grow. With compassion and evidence-based techniques, I will support you in overcoming the obstacles and habits that have been holding you back. Together, we will embark on a transformative journey toward a more balanced and fulfilling life!

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Connecticut. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Connecticut from New Haven to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Connecticut.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Coping Skills, is filtering therapists in Connecticut that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
