Hi, my name is Rebecca. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut, I have been practicing for 7 years. I received my Masters from Naropa University, and my Bachelors from Penn. College of Art & Design. Outside of working in the field I enjoy doing art, traveling, and teaching. My expertise is working with adolescent and young adult individuals that had or currently experience trauma, as well as symptoms of anxiety, depression, and addiction. Additionally, I have done work with clients with intellectual disabilities, from the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals who have been incarcerated.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, and then discuss the challenges that bring you to therapy. I keep our first meeting open-ended and client centered so you feel safe to share what you feel comfortable with. We will then come up with goals and a plan for us to work through in following sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I will tailor our conversations and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious and want to work through that mindset to be the best version of themselves. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles and concerns and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

My therapeutic lens is person-centered and humanistic, in which my clients are seen as the expert in their lives. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is important for client growth. I feel that therapy should be an authentic experience, and the client's need to be listened to, valued, and understood is imperative. My goal is to support clients in working towards being the best versions of themselves, and gaining new perspective on life.

This is my first session with Rebecca and wow. It was a lot that I had to get off my chest and a lot that I was holding back from, yet she was very understanding and supportive. Having to really sit down with a therapist who actually wants to understand you rather than treating you like you're crazy is something that I haven't successfully found until now.
