Greetings! I've been working professionally for 8 years now with teenage adolescent clients and their families. I view the work I do as both my passion and purpose. It is a gift to be welcomed into my clients' lives to help support them during this wild time of transition, identity, and struggle. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you. I received my degree from Colombia University and started my career in New York City working with Child Protective Services as a MDFT therapist. I then transitioned to helping create and establish a school based mental health clinic within the Murry Bergtraum High School Campus, servicing four high schools. Since moving to Connecticut, I've continued to work in the high school setting as a school based social worker. Together, we work on a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, BPD, Autism, etc.

Hi, I'm Julia Kalp. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), providing therapy since 2012, and a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) since 2009. I have worked in the mental health and social services field since 2003. Over the past 22 years, I've worked with clients ranging from preschoolers to older adults, helping people across all stages of life find balance, strength, and emotional clarity. Before beginning outpatient practice, I worked in treatment facilities and provided in-home services to children, adolescents, and families. Those early experiences showed me how deeply our relationships, environments, and early experiences shape who we are—and how much healing becomes possible when people feel safe, understood, and supported. In my work today, I provide outpatient telehealth therapy for individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in addressing mood challenges, anxiety, trauma recovery, attention and impulse control concerns, attachment needs, and stress-related issues. I draw from evidence-based approaches, integrating trauma-informed and strengths-based care tailored to each person's needs. My clients often describe me as calm, compassionate, and easy to talk to. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative—where we combine your insight and lived experience with my clinical tools to build meaningful change together. Whether you're healing from trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, managing ADHD, or wanting to strengthen relationships, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and equipped with practical strategies that fit your life. Above all, I want you to leave therapy feeling more confident, capable, and connected than when you began.

Therapy I feel is a chance to learn and shift patterns in our lives. Relationships are a key part of life but are difficult on many levels and we learn the way that we communicate with other from our experience. Learning and understanding that experience can help us make the changes that we would like to see in life. I believe in having an open space free from judgement were people can explore who they are and learn how to use that to change their lives and their relationships with others. I work with people from all different perspectives and believe that we are the products of our experience and that we can find ways to change the patterns that are not helpful for us. Communication is key in relationships but it is something that we have trouble with but are not always aware of the impact. Learning patterns, identifying the meaning that we put to our experiences and seeing our strengths are ways that allow us to become the person that we want to be without losing who we are.

I only provide telehealth at this time. I accept adjustment issues, life transitions, grief, mood or anxiety. I will be open and honest with you about what I can and cannot do for you within the confines of telehealth. I use the first session to determine that this is going to be a good fit for both of us. Therapy is very much about a good fit between two people and the right techniques. I intentionally keep a small caseload so I can give you the time without being preoccupied by keeping up volume. My availability is limited, so I can only accept mild to moderate mental health concerns. I am happy to direct you to more appropriate resources or providers if we aren't a good match. I see intake as a mutual interview for both of us to learn about each other and decide if we want to continue a therapeutic relationship. In the interest of helping you get the best care possible, I ask that you seek in-person treatment if you struggle with a thought disorder, substance abuse, partner/relationship violence, or other safety concerns. I also do not take court or DCF mandated treatment cases via telehealth. I also do not specialize in divorce or child custody matters. While I am knowledgeable in these areas, I believe the best care is in-person.

Hi there and welcome! As we go through different stages and circumstances in our lives, there are moments when we face difficult challenges and just need a safe space to overcome our barriers. Within my five years of experience, I have helped clients and families develop their unique coping skills for symptoms related to anxiety, depression, anger, behavioral dysregulation, trauma, and stress. Additionally, I have worked in various settings including communities, homes, medical offices, and remote video/telehealth. These methods of treatment and approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Family Systems Theory, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. " "The wound is where the light enters." - Jeladdin Rumi "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once." Martin Luther King Jr. "Wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." - Maya Angelou "The past is gone, and there is left only a blessing." - Kahlil Gibran "Be true to yourself, and you will be false to no one else." - William Shakespeare "How very lucky are we, for just a moment to be, part of life's eternal rhyme." Hi, I’m Samantha Czaja, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing therapy for children, teens, and adults ages 5 and up. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University and have been practicing since 2019. I have worked in diverse settings including schools, community clinics, an Extended Day Treatment (EDT) program, outpatient care, and crisis work. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals and families from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach is grounded in the belief that therapy is a collaborative space where your voice guides the journey. I specialize in helping clients manage ADHD, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, substance use, and family-related challenges. Whether you are navigating difficult family dynamics, processing loss, or seeking support for yourself or your child, I tailor our work to your unique strengths and goals. My approach combines warmth, honesty, and practicality. I use evidence-based methods including solution-focused therapy, strengths-based work, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing. Through skill-building in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness, we work together to develop tools that promote resilience and lasting change. Having supported families extensively, I understand how relationships impact well-being and strive to create a safe and respectful environment for healing and growth. Reaching out for support is a brave step. I am here to walk alongside you with empathy, insight, and encouragement.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Connecticut rather than a city like Hartford?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Connecticut from New Haven to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Connecticut.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Child or Adolescent?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Child or Adolescent, is filtering therapists in Connecticut that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
