I love working with clients who are interested in creating a positive change in their life, but may be stuck on how to start. As a therapist in private practice, as well as a Yale University trained clinician in evidence based practices, I specialize in helping clients to tackle their goals in small steps to create the change they desire.
In our first session, we will start with a brief introduction and then dive into your specific challenges. This will help me to create tailored plan for us to work through in your sessions.
I have extensive experience in working clients who have seen me as accepting and compassionate. While my expertise is in providing information and skills to help them improve various areas in their life, I do so by collaborating with them the kinds of changes they are interested in creating.
If you are frustrated with your role as a parent and feel there has to be an easier way, I can help. I work with parents to practice effective parenting techniques to decrease stress in the home, build compliance, and stronger parent child bonds. If you find that it has been harder to regulate your mood and energy and think you may be depressed, or the opposite, and have bouts of energy and productivity that seem to come from nowhere, I can collaborate with you to build consistent routines that will improve your sleep quality, mood, and energy.
It can easy to be overwhelmed by our thoughts and fall into thinking traps that can alter how we perceive situations or interactions with others. I can help you to identify these traps so that you can begin to reframe your thoughts and learn how to regulate your emotions, react in ways that make life easier for you, and to decrease symptoms of anxiety and/or depression.
Shifts in our relationships with others can be difficult. Whether it is a loss that you have recently experienced, a life change, or a conflict with a significant other, I can work closely with you to develop effective ways in handling these problem areas, and strengthen your wellbeing and relationships. Additionally, I specialize in Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy. For individuals with mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, life changes can wreak havoc on their circadian rhythms and can likely lead to symptoms of depression or mania. I specialize in working closely with individuals to make small changes in developing consistent routines with has been shown to improve their sleep quality, mood, and energy.
I specialize in working with parents to help them to use best parenting practices. It is often said that children don't come with a manual but I can guide parents to use evidenced-based strategies to significantly improve compliance issues, reduce verbal or physical aggression, and help their children to develop habits independently and responsibly. I also work with children to help them to slow down, stop and think, and generate multiple positive solutions to situations they view as difficult. The more backup plans a child has, the easier it will be for them to handle tough situations in ways that will work out well for them.
