LPC, 13 years of experience
Hello, I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Connecticut. I enjoy working with teenagers and young adults navigate their transitions. Middle school, high school, and college ages students need support without judgement.
In our first sessions we will start with introductions, discuss challenges that you are facing, and develop some treatment goals to help you overcome your challenges.
I provide a non-judgmental, genuine, safe space for you to discuss those issues that are bothering you and getting to the root causes.
I love working with students and trauma survivors. Students face many challenges that are sometimes overlooked or not acknowledged. Almost every person has experienced some kind of traumatic event in their lives. For many people they may experience life impacting symptoms from their trauma and do not possess the skills to get past them. My job is to teach the skills and support you in overcoming your trauma and minimize your trauma symptoms.
Malissa Garcia offers therapy covered by Husky Health and Medicaid in Connecticut.
I have over ten years of experience utilizing CBT, motivational interviewing, strength- based, and DBT in a therapeutic setting both in individual and group sessions.
I am both a licensed professional counselor using evidenced based therapeutic modalities as well as using Christ centered faith-based principles. Utilizing prayer, biblical principles, and scripture can help support a client whose faith is important to them.
Understanding attachment styles can help a person understand their strengths and weaknesses in relationships. Not just parent and child, but friendship, romantic relationships, and professional relationships.
Providing psychoeducation can help a client understand their diagnosis, behaviors, coping skills, and interventions that can decrease mental health ir substance abuse symptoms.
DBT can help change behaviors and build healthy skills to navigate life without self-harming.
