Hello, I’m Demetria Agharese, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan who is passionate about supporting individuals on their path to healing, empowerment, and mental well-being. The desire to help others has always been at the core of who I am. My practice is built on the foundation of empathy and compassionate care, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where you can feel safe, supported, and understood.
In our first session, we’ll start by building a strong foundation of trust. I’ll take the time to listen to your story and understand what has brought you to this point. We’ll explore your hopes and goals for therapy, and I’ll create a space where you feel safe sharing anything that’s on your mind. Our work together is a partnership, and from day one, I’m committed to being your guide and ally on this journey toward healing. You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Healing, growth, and empowerment are within your reach, and I’m here to help you take that first step. Reach out today to start your journey toward a brighter, more peaceful future.
My greatest strength as a counselor is my active listening and empathetic skills. I can listen in for the deeper meaning of one's story. I am resourceful and provide homework to complement the counseling session for continued growth. We will work together to set meaningful goals, and I will be by your side to offer support, guidance, and encouragement every step of the way. My approach is compassionate yet practical, helping you build the resilience and emotional strength needed for lasting change.
I have utilized cognitive behavioral therapy to reduce depression and anxiety symptoms. It focuses on challenging and reframing cognitive distortions that are known to create emotional distress.
My approach to the therapeutic environment is utilizing Person-centered therapy. I meet the clients where they are and assist individuals in achieving personal growth. The basic premise of Person-centered therapy is that given a therapeutic environment, clients will move toward a positive change. I utilize techniques that encourage clients to find solutions to their problems that are consistent with their own beliefs about themselves and others. I incorporate techniques that would be beneficial to the client based on their specific needs.
I have been trained in exposure response prevention and utilize it with people who have obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and phobias.
