Hello, my name is Shelly LCSW and I am glad you are here. I work with individuals, couples, and families. Therapy with me is a safe space where you think out loud, ask questions, and process without judgment. My goal is to support you in feeling encouraged to attend sessions as your most authentic self. I integrate Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with other evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and strengths-based strategies. This allows us to address challenges from multiple angles.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming greeting. After that we collaborate on what your needs and expectations are while weaving in casual getting to know you dialogue. .

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of the strengths clients often reflect back to me is my ability to help them learn how to meet themselves with grace and develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with themselves. Many people come to therapy carrying self-criticism, guilt, or shame, and I strive to create a space where those patterns can be gently understood rather than judged. I am known for providing an empathic, emotionally safe environment where clients feel comfortable opening up, exploring difficult emotions, and speaking honestly about their experiences. I balance warmth with thoughtful guidance, helping clients feel supported while also gaining clarity and direction. Another key strength of my approach is my ability to break down complex emotional patterns, psychological concepts, and evidence-based research into clear, relatable insights. Clients often share that understanding the why behind their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors empowers them to make meaningful and sustainable changes. I integrate practical tools and strategies alongside emotional processing, so therapy feels both supportive and actionable. Above all, I approach therapy as a collaborative process. I listen carefully, honor each client’s pace, and tailor my approach to meet individual needs. My goal is not only to help clients feel better in the moment, but to equip them with insight, skills, and self-awareness they can carry with them long after therapy ends.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support individuals who are navigating significant life changes and want to better understand themselves while developing practical tools for growth. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained, yet are motivated to learn, gain insight, and make meaningful changes in their lives. This may include individuals facing relationship challenges, divorce or co-parenting stress, anxiety related to life changes, or difficulty setting boundaries and prioritizing their own needs. My ideal clients appreciate a collaborative and educational approach to therapy. I often incorporate evidence-based research, psychological concepts, and practical frameworks to help clients understand why certain patterns show up and how to shift them. You don’t need prior knowledge—just curiosity and openness to learning about yourself in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. If you’re looking for a therapist who offers warmth, structure, and insight—combining emotional support with practical, research-informed strategies to create sustainable change—you may be a good fit for my practice.
