In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) within a trauma-informed care framework to support clients struggling with self-esteem, body image, and relationship issues. Recognizing the impact of trauma on these areas, I create a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel validated and understood. My structured approach helps clients develop practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. For self-esteem and body image concerns, I focus on helping clients cultivate self-compassion and challenge negative self-talk through mindfulness and acceptance strategies, always being mindful of their trauma history. In addressing relationship issues, I guide clients in building healthier communication patterns and setting appropriate boundaries using interpersonal effectiveness skills, while ensuring a trauma-sensitive approach. By integrating these techniques, I empower clients to navigate their emotions more effectively, improve their self-perception, and foster more fulfilling relationships, all within a context that prioritizes their safety and well-being. **Please note I do not see couples

Hi, I'm Kathy Sanguinetti and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. I am a humanistic therapist who helps people become more connected to their true selves. In therapy, I work with people to explore, make sense of, and identify how their upbringing may be contributing to their symptoms of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. This awareness helps people create change to alleviate symptoms. I also use mindfulness-based CBT to help people become aware of and challenge thoughts/beliefs that aren’t true and are contributing to their depression and anxiety.

Your life is changing, and you’re not sure why you’re not handling it better. In my work with clients, I’ve seen that even good changes can make usually well-adjusted people struggle with day-to-day stress that didn’t seem to be a challenge in the past. I’ve worked with people who struggle with communicating emotions, prioritizing themselves, or feeling like their best is not good enough. If you feel like you can identify with those experiences and are not sure how to change things, I’d love to work with you.

I’m a licensed therapist with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, having worked in a range of settings, including intensive home services, outpatient clinics, and school-based environments. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of providing care to youth, families, and adults from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent communities, system-involved youth, and adult children of immigrants. My work is deeply informed by a commitment to trauma-informed care, systemic healing, and equity, and I believe that healing is a collective, community-centered process. I specialize in supporting clients through experiences of intergenerational trauma, systemic inequities, and relational challenges, helping them understand how these patterns impact their well-being. My approach is holistic and client-centered, integrating modalities like somatic therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Structural Family Therapy to provide personalized care. I focus on empowering clients to reconnect with themselves, their values, and their communities while addressing the ways in which trauma and systemic barriers have shaped their lives. Whether working with individuals, families, or communities, I aim to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, and respected. I help clients develop coping skills, resilience, and self-awareness, while also supporting the healing of relational dynamics within families and communities. I believe that healing is not just about individual transformation—it’s about creating systemic change that allows individuals to thrive within their environments. I am committed to helping clients break free from limiting beliefs and unhealthy patterns, enabling them to move forward with greater clarity, empowerment, and connection to themselves and others. Ultimately, my work is about fostering sustainable, long-term healing that prioritizes collective care, justice, and equity for all.

I'm an insight oriented therapist meaning I assist clients in illuminating their inner workings and wounds that have created struggles in their lives. I work at a level of healing and empowering with the intention to offer guidance rather than to instruct. You are the expert of your life. This allows individuals to move into greater appreciation and acceptance of self. I have worked for several years with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families with a strong focus on personal acceptance, self-compassion, and resolution of internal conflicts based in trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship strain, or lack of direction and focus in one’s life. I specialize in substance abuse and addiction treatment. Welcome! My name is Nathan Taylor and I’d like to thank you for taking the time to look over my profile and to learn a little about me as a therapist. Choosing a therapist can be challenging (and maybe even more than a little anxiety provoking!) and it is important to take the time to find someone that you feel may be a good fit to work with towards helping you achieve your goals in therapy. With that in mind, I wanted to share a little about myself and my own path as a therapist. Should you feel like we may be a good fit, I genuinely look forward to meeting and hopefully working with you. Each of our own personal experiences, dreams, goals, hopes, and needs, both in life and in therapy are unique and individual. You may know exactly what those are for you, or you may feel like you are lost and overwhelmed. Either way, my role is to help you along your own path. To help define what you are struggling with and to take the steps that are needed to work through those struggles and challenges. Whatever your reason is for seeking therapy, know that it can be an incredibly valuable tool towards finding what it is that you are looking for. I’ve been in the mental health field in one way or another for well over 20 years, working with children, families, couples, and adults, both in the public sector and in private practice. While I started my career working with children in group homes, foster care, and in the legal system, my passion as a therapist has taken me in many directions. I’ve worked for many years as both a clinical supervisor for new and learning therapists and as an upper-level manager/administrator in the public mental health sector. Most recently, in addition to my work in private practice I ran several types of community mental health programs, both outpatient and inpatient, for a large behavioral health company providing mental healthcare to adults. I became a licensed therapist in 2008, yet I’m constantly learning, growing, and developing every day in order to become the best therapist that I can be. It’s my belief that it is an honor and privilege to work with people as a therapist to help each person in the way that they need. Over the years, I’ve received several advanced trainings and certifications that I’ve pursued to obtain the skill sets needed to specialize in a few areas that I believe are tremendously effective and helpful to those I work with. I’ve found that EMDR, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Hypnotherapy are the types of therapy work and interventions that are not only backed by research as highly effective, but also really resonate with those that I work with. As with anything in therapy, there is no one-size fits all approach, and I find it most valuable to help create a treatment approach in complete collaboration with you. As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist, I've found this evidenced-based approach to therapy to be particularly effective with people for a wide variety of reasons, and as such EMDR is my current primary specialty. As EMDR therapy has gained a significant amount of positive attention lately, this may be something you're familiar with, heard about and would like to know more, or it's all together new to you. I'd be more than happy to share additional information with you about EMDR should you be interested in learning more. Again, thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about me. You’ve found the courage to get this far, let’s see how much further we can get together!

You’re not alone. The AAPI community is facing higher rates of anxiety, depression, stress, and burnout than ever before. I’m a competitive and avid surfer, a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and a father to two incredible daughters who continue to inspire me every day. My life experiences—both in and out of the water—have deeply shaped my perspective as a therapist. The discipline, resilience, adaptability, and appreciation for living in the moment I developed through my military service and surfing inform my therapeutic work, especially in the areas of sport and performance psychology. No matter sport performance or not, I’m passionate about helping others tap into their potential, overcome internal barriers, and find balance for well-being. My interest in psychotherapeutics stems from a deep curiosity about the human mind and a genuine desire to support people through their unique challenges. Whether I’m in the therapy room or catching waves, I bring presence, passion, and a commitment to growth—for myself and for those I work with.

Are you curious about the impact of your past on your present? Are you curious about your relationship patterns and choices? Do you often feel misunderstood or invalidated? Do you feel seen and valued for who and how you are? Are you interested in desire, liberation and an expansion of your worldview? I have deep, personal connections to these pathways of inquiry and reflection and am interested in engaging in this work with others. I am a psychotherapist who is passionately committed to individual, collective and community wellness. I believe that relationships are the site of both injury and transformation. Our relationship will provide a space for connection, safety and recovery. I work from a person and culture centered, psychodynamic/depth perspective and understand suffering as trans-generational, racial, cultural and personal/interpersonal. I approach "problems" as ineffective solutions or "symptoms" as expressing what we cannot with words. Our work will be to locate those words. And speak them.

Hello, my name is Elliot Jones and I'm committed to helping others relieve distress and achieve their goals. My approach to therapy is collaborating with you to understand your values, goals, experiences, strengths and expectations for therapy. My intention for every session is to create a place of acceptance, compassion and safety that allows for exploration, connection and healing. It will not always be possible but as a rule it is the hope that a person leaves the session feeling better then when they arrived. As a trauma informed therapist compassion, empathy and acceptance will be at the core of treatment. I use action based interventions to sustain and achieve positive changes throughout the week. My overall goal as a therapist is for the client to be ending treatment with a clear direction of where they are headed in life that is rooted in their values and strengths as well as a strong sense of self and acceptance.

A sense of humor is also essential to me in healing work, and I believe in making room to go deep as well as to have fun in therapy. I have experience working with folks who experience depression, self-harm, relationship issues, break-ups, trauma, and anxiety. I love working with millennials, young people, queers, and creatives. Right now, I am only seeing clients on Telehealth.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
