New to Grow
Hi, I’m Juviel Vinluan, a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in art therapy. I received my Masters from Dominican University of California and I have been practicing for 5+ years. I am committed to creating a compassionate, collaborative space where you can explore challenges, deepen self understanding, and move toward meaningful change. I draw from approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Existential Therapy to support clients in navigating life transitions, identity questions, trauma, and relationship issues. My style is warm, thoughtful, and grounded in the belief that healing begins with being truly seen and heard.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, my goal is to create a welcoming, supportive space where you can begin to share your story at your own pace. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, explore your hopes and goals, and begin getting a sense of how we might work together. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background and current concerns, but there’s no pressure to have everything figured out! This is a space for curiosity, not judgment. You’re welcome to ask questions, share what feels important, and let me know what you need to feel safe and supported in the process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Being an art therapist helps me draw from creativity and make space for those who have a harder time expressing their thoughts and emotions through talk therapy. I focus on helping clients build a more connected and compassionate relationship with themselves, which often leads to greater clarity, resilience, and lasting change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I’m best positioned to work with individuals who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or at a turning point in their lives, whether they are re navigating identity shifts, relationship changes, loss, or questions about purpose and direction. Many of my clients come in with a desire to better understand themselves, heal from past experiences, and cultivate a more grounded and authentic way of living. I work especially well with those who are curious, open to reflection, and ready to engage in a thoughtful, collaborative therapeutic process.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I use IFS to help clients identify and understand their internal parts, whether they show up as inner critics or protectors, and to build compassionate relationships with them. This often involves guiding clients to notice their parts without judgment, uncovering the protective functions those parts serve, and ultimately helping them access self leadership to promote internal integration and healing.
Narrative
I use Narrative Therapy to help clients externalize problems; separating the person from the issue, which creates space for curiosity, self compassion, and change. Through collaborative dialogue, we explore how narratives may have been shaped by limiting beliefs or societal messages, and we work together to uncover alternative narratives that are more empowering and aligned with the client's preferred identity. This approach is especially helpful for clients navigating identity, trauma, grief, and life transitions.
Existential
I use an existential lens to help clients explore these deeper themes with honesty and openness. Rather than trying to "solve" existential concerns, I support clients in developing a greater tolerance for uncertainty, making conscious choices aligned with their values, and finding personal meaning even in the face of challenges or ambiguity. This approach emphasizes personal agency, authenticity, and the therapeutic relationship as a space for deep reflection and dialogue.
