Do you feel like a "misfit"? Do you struggle with the dilemma of how to genuinely connect with others while protecting your freedom, independence and personal boundaries? It is possible to resolve this dilemma, make positive changes and accomplish your goals if you change your perceptions and shift your vision of life from a dualistic to a holistic one, but this work will take time and commitment. You and I may be a good match. if you have always wanted to make your life meaningful and to be understood as a unique individual, as opposed to a diagnostic label. Through active listening and honest dialog, together we will understand what prevents you from living the life you want and how to unlock your sources of creativity, inner strength, and wisdom.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your fist intake session you will be asked to describe briefly the nature of the problem you are seeking help with. I will ask you a series of questions aimed at collecting some basic information about your personal and family history, medical history and other data that may be relevant to your therapy work and therapy goals. Your first appointment is your opportunity to ask me any questions you might have about my professional education, training and experience in order to assess if I am the right therapist for you. We will also discuss the structure and the process of therapy, my style and my policies to make sure we have an agreement on how to proceed. After that, we will delve right into the problem you have come to resolve, and the therapy will start.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Cultural competence is one of my strongest areas of expertise. In my professional career, I have worked a lot with new immigrants and those who have lived in the country for many years. As a first-generation immigrant, I know the difficulty of adjusting to a different culture. If you are an immigrant, you can count on my full support and ability to relate to any cultural adaptability issues you may have experienced. If my approach sounds like a good fit for you, I look forward to working with you!

My treatment methods

Existential

The existential approach emphasizes freedom of choice and personal responsibility. To put it simply, as a therapist who uses this method, I respect all your life choices, as long as they are fully conscious. Every choice is fully conscious if you know what it means, what will happen as a result of you making that choice and if you accept full responsibility for that choice including the consequences. It is my role, as a therapist, to make sure that you become as conscious of your choices as possible.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic method is insight-oriented. It explores the connection between your past experiences and how they inform the choices you make in the present. Psychodynamic sessions feel like a free flow of moods, thoughts, feelings, intuitive hunches that get observed and analyzed in conversations with a therapist. This process is essentially spontaneous and often produces important but unexpected insights. It could get uncomfortable because it often brings painful and negative feelings to the surface, but, ultimately, it serves the greater good of healing old wounds.
