LPC, 4 years of experience
Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Connecticut. I received my Master's of Science in Human Services and Counseling from Post University. I have 4 years of experience treating anxiety disorders, ADHD and depression in both adolescents and adults. I have a vast amount of experience working with families and helping parents navigate the challenges of parenthood. I have worked in both an outpatient setting and a school setting providing individual and family therapy.
In our first session together, I will start by gathering some general information about you and then dive into the specific challenges that you are facing in order to create a foundation for future sessions. I will also explain what the format of our sessions may look like, what you can expect from me as your therapist, and answer any initial questions that you may have.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial and is something that takes priority in my practice. I provide a compassionate and empathetic approach to therapy which creates a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement. I prioritize building trust at the start of treatment in order to create a supportive environment where my clients can grow and ultimately achieve their treatment goals.
I work primarily with adolescents (age 13 and up) and adults who are navigating the challenges of anxiety, depression, and/or low self-esteem. I create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings, identify patterns or thinking, and work towards positive change. I assist individuals in overcoming emotional barriers, cultivating self-awareness, and enhancing their overall well-being. I am dedicated to helping individuals build confidence, develop healthier relationships with themselves and others, and live more fulfilling lives. I also work specifically with parents who are facing difficulties in their parenting journey. This may include parents who are struggling with complex family dynamics, as well as specific behavioral issues in their children that may be due to separation, divorce, or other significant life changes. I provide a supportive space where parents can explore their concerns, gain insights into their parenting styles, and develop effective strategies to foster positive family relationships and promote their children's well-being.
I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice for nearly four years to help clients that struggle with anxiety and/or depression, improve their quality of life. I use CBT to help my clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, while also teaching them new strategies that will change those negative thought patterns and improve their overall mood. I have also utilized CBT as a way to help clients break down overwhelming situations and/or problems into smaller parts, and deal with them in a more positive way.
I often utilize Mindfulness-Based Therapy as an important part of my practice to help clients become more consciously aware of their own thoughts, feelings, and body. Interventions that I often utilize include; guided meditation, body mapping, deep breathing, and grounding exercises. These interventions can assist clients suffering from Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, or Trauma.
I use Positive Psychology in my practice to help clients struggling with depression and/or low self-esteem. This method focuses on the client's strengths while also emphasizing personal growth, resilience, and positivity.
I utilize Psychoeducation in my practice to help clients understand their diagnosis by providing detailed information about the symptoms, origin, and treatment methods. I also provide my clients with resources about their diagnosis, as needed.
