Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working in Connecticut for the past 5 years. I work with my clients to help identify the cause of issues they may be experiencing, and help guide them through the process of addressing those issues. The most important aspect of therapy is that it is client-led. Everyone's needs and desires are different, and working out what a person is looking to gain from their therapy is the foundation for change. Once we have established that together, the path ahead can look different for each person. Some benefit from highly structured sessions centered around teaching tangible skills, others benefit from more loosely organized talk therapy. Either way, it is important to establish a treatment plan with goals early on, and work together to reach them.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In a first session you can expect me to try to get to know you on a personal level, learn about who you are and what your needs are. I will of course be giving you the same insight into my own personality, and what I can offer. Hopefully by the end of the session we will know each other a little better, and will have established just what it is we will be working on together and how to begin that journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am always eager to get to know people, I genuinely enjoy speaking with people about topics both light and more serious. You can feel comfortable knowing that I always bring a non-judgemental attitude to my profession, I am comfortable with anything you bring to me.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work very well with clients who are motivated to learn, change, and grow into their best selves. Even if they are not yet sure about the specifics, I always love exploring what a person wants out of life with them.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a useful modality for recognizing the negative factors of our life that we cannot influence or change, or at least cannot do so easily, and learning ways of coping with them without solving them.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectic Behavior Therapy is a highly structured modality that seeks to bring our emotions and our thoughts into harmony. It envisions our mind as being in two modes, 'Emotion Mind' and 'Reasonable' or 'Practical Mind,' and then gives us ways to marry the two into a 'Wise Mind.'

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is used to examine how our thoughts, both automatic and intentional, effect both our emotions and behaviors. It is a fairly structured modality that can provide concrete skills to cope and change your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Psychoeducation

Pscyhoeducation is focused on teaching about how thoughts and emotions work, where they may come from and how they effect us personally. It can be used to better learn how your mind works in the hopes of being able to improve that functioning.
