As a therapist with a great passion for helping people, I have extensive experience in assisting clients who are struggling with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, and bipolar disorder. My philosophy is simple - "There's no way out, but through". I offer a helping hand to my clients through life's disappointments, changes, challenges, and even outright catastrophes. My experience as a service member for over a decade brings a unique perspective to my practice. I see the therapeutic journey as similar to using a GPS. You're the driver, but your clinician is the GPS. You can choose where you want to go, but your clinician guides you to ensure you reach your destination. Together, we will explore your needs, and your perspective and learn more about you. Therapy is an investment you make for yourself, and it will benefit not only you but also your loved ones and the broader community by helping you become your best self.

The human experience is not something that always works based on logic. Our brains are wonderful tools that can occasionally get stuck in a survival mode that leaves us feeling helpless and terrified. We can become stuck logical loops, anxious cycles, helpless before the fear of the unknown, or in a dark depression that stops us from continuing our previous goals and fun hobbies. Our past can be a reason for this. Sometimes it might be recent events at just the wrong time. It can even be a combination of small things that seemed to always shift never going away. My philosophy of treatment is to teach my clients how mind and body work so that they can make their choice in how they choose to live and interact with others. I am trained in EMDR, hypnosis, and IFS and apply all in working with PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression and for pain management from physical illness. A person's mind is like a garden, cultivated or left to it's own devices it will always grow. When carefully tended it is a thing of beauty, but if left alone it is a mess of weeds. In understanding the thoughts and beliefs you have about the world and how you can shape them, you can learn to thrive. With a new perspective you can change everything.

Go from Trauma, Chaos & Emotional Pain to a Life Filled with Joy, Healthy Boundaries & Healing “If it ain’t one thing, it’s another.” “It’s always something.” “I just can’t seem to get ahead.” These are just a few of the defeating statements we often utter when our circumstances don’t match up with our expectations. And a lot of the time, it’s because of some trauma, struggle or problem that is overwhelming us. It’s hard to manage stress when your personal challenges, past trauma or relationship chaos are preventing you from living the life you’ve always dreamed of. Add on the daily struggles of being a Black man or woman in America, and those problems can seem insurmountable. Whether you’re suffering from past trauma, chemical dependencies, dysfunctional relationships or sexually intrusive behaviors, the bottom line is this: There are few safe spaces for people of color looking for nonjudgmental, straightforward, yet caring mental health advice on how to approach these challenges, so they stop disrupting daily life. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “therapy” and “mental health” are taboo words in our community. That’s because therapy has been historically colonized and not personalized for your unique challenges as a person of color. I’m here to change that. I’m Elizabeth McCoy, the Transformation Therapist. I’m trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Brainspotting. All from DECOLONIZED lens. Translation? No matter what barriers or blocks are keeping you from living your best life, I’ve got the well-rounded POV, deep training and know-how to help you reclaim your joy, set healthy boundaries and heal in a space designed just for you! If you’re ready to trade trauma and pain for happier relationships and a better quality of life, schedule a consultation with me so I can show you how: << YES, SHOW ME HOW TO TURN MY PAIN INTO POWER!>> by booking your first appointment!

My focus is reconciliation. Healing is often achieved through us becoming reconciled with self and/or others. It can be a process that allows us to identify and modify our thoughts and behaviors. We are all a work in progress and rightly so as circumstances are constantly changing. I believe that each person should have an opportunity to express themselves in a safe, nurturing, judgement free zone. As we seek to gain an understanding of self and others, often we experience a shift in our processing. If you are stuck or it feels like you are spinning out of control like a hamster on a wheel, let’s talk about “it”.

Let's just say things were always interesting, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Those experiences helped shape who I am and gave me insight into a variety of people. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Certified Sex Therapist (CST). I received a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. I have a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Abilene Christian University. When I'm not counseling, I love to read all things paranormal (i.e. vampires, werewolves, fae, etc.). I enjoy music, different forms of dance and fitness, cooking and eating new dishes, as well as, traveling. Also, I am one third of The RePsychled Podcast, which is a podcast that focuses on educating and bringing mental health awareness to minority communities in a down to earth way.

Are you searching for someone to listen to you? For many years, I have heard over and over, “Thank you, I have just been wanting someone to listen to me”. I have always felt led to sit and listen when a client went from answering assessment questions to opening up and spilling their heart. I have been a licensed social worker for over 30 years working with clients in healthcare settings and case management. I have now been a licensed professional counselor for the last five years. My love for helping people learn how to help themselves and believe they can retrain their brain to achieve what they want inspired me to seek my my own career goal of returning to school and becoming a licensed counselor. With my clients over the years, I have gained experience in helping them work through stress, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, job loss, marital problems, physical limitations and/or disabilities, as well as long term life-altering situations. These situations brought me to work with adults of all ages due to the circumstances affecting relationships with family and friends. I am a wife, a mother of two young adult children, a mother-in-law, a sister and a daughter myself. I understand and know how family dynamics affect an individual’s physical and emotional health in all aspects of their daily lives.

Hello! I welcome you to take a look at my profile. I love what I do, which is helping people, one person at a time. I am an LCSW in Illinois and Texas and have been an LCSW since 2010. I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) in 2005. I have various experiences in mental health counseling, child welfare, corrections, training of social workers and some adjunct teaching. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I use a range of modalities, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, and in general, I am a good listener. I look forward to working with you!

You deserve the opportunity to experience peace, wholeness, and flourishing in your life. Unfortunately, some of your past and present experiences may have kept you from this. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel supported as you share, explore, and achieve the life you desire. Together, we will embrace your imperfections, increase self-awareness, and build on your strengths to help you grow as you journey toward healing and wholeness.

Portland, TX - Accepting clients in TX

My practice is located in Portland, Texas. Much of my work focuses on trauma. This ranges from car accidents, to childhood trauma, to abusive relationships, combat veterans and PTSD. I respect my client's opinions on their treatment and work closely with them in treatment planning. I love it when clients share resources with me that have helped them outside of sessions, whether that be podcasts, books, etc. I work to incorporate these things into treatment. I'm very skilled at meeting a client where he or she is at, and I have a talent for coaching clients through the difficult parts of treatment to continue making progress and not become "stuck."

Life can be hard; you don't have to navigate it alone. I believe in creating a nonjudgmental environment where all clients can feel safe. I am open to working with all individuals. My passion for helping others has been evident throughout the last 20 years of working with children and families. Through my experiences I have learned how to interact with a diverse group of people, which has increased my ability to relate to others. I am passionate about walking alongside clients as they navigate changes and growth. I would be honored in working together with you in creating a journey of joy, peace, and healing.

Leander, TX - Accepting clients in TX

Hello! I am Amanda, counselor of 17 years, wife of 19 years, and mother for 12 years and counting. I have been a resident of the North Austin area for the last five years and am a Texas native, though I did spend some time growing up in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. I am active in my son’s school, my church and my community which I am happy to call home. I have worked in domestic violence shelters, residential programs for children, with Child Protective Services, and in Private Practice. For many years I have had the privilege of joining my clients in the process of change. We go through so much in our lives. Love, loss, stress and anxieties shape who we are. I respect the courage that it takes to look at these things and seek growth and change.

What if you could write the story of your life? The truth is, you can, you are in control of your destiny, you are writing the story of your life right now. The choices you make are directly related to the thoughts you have. That puts you in control, you have the ability to change the way you think, and when you change the way you think, you change your life. The thoughts you are thinking right now are writing the story of your life. If you are not happy with the story, you can reprogram your thoughts to change the story and write it the way you want it to go. Together you and I can work to manage the challenges you are facing today. Therapy may seem scary or even overwhelming, but with the right partner you really can change your life. Together we will explore how your thoughts and the dimensions of wellness are affecting your life and find a path to change the story of your life, to one of positive emotional and mental well-being.

I have been practicing as a counselor since 2012, in variety of settings from church settings to hospitals, with the longest stint in a community mental health clinic. I provide talk therapy, helping clients discover the unconscious patterns in their lives that may be holding them back. Outside of my academic and counseling career, I have faced and overcome my own mental health challenges. There is no one answer that serves all, but there is one best answer that fits you. Let's see if we can find it.
