(she/her)
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with over eleven years experience in counseling. I have completed training as a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and am currently completing advanced training to be an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. I recently moved to Colorado but will remain licensed in Texas and will continue to work with Texas clients. I have worked with clients with a wide range of challenges but my specialties include trauma, abuse, Autism, social difficulties, mood disorders, grief, ADHD, anxiety and depression. At this time, I do not provide virtual couples counseling. My counseling approach is person-centered and I strive to create an environment in which you feel safe to share your story. I have always believed that everyone can benefit from counseling and I believe that is even more true as we have all been touched by the difficulties and challenges of the last several years.
I typically treat first sessions as a time to learn more about your story and your experiences and where you would like to focus counseling. So there is no pressure to know exactly what you want to talk about or say. There are a couple of things we do cover in the first session but, If you do know exactly what you want to talk about, we can also dive right in. At the moment, my calendar shows availability on Mondays through Saturdays 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. However, please reach out if you need to schedule a time outside of the openings on the calendar and I can set you up.
One thing that I tell all of my clients is that I want you to find the best counselor for you that you feel safe and comfortable working with. For counseling to be effective, it has to be with a counselor you feel you can trust with your story. My priority is providing a safe, judgement-free space for that process.
I have extensive experience working with clients navigating trauma, Autism, PTSD, depression, anxiety and mood disorders, as well as LGBTQ+ issues. I also enjoy working with clients who have "been there, done that" with counseling and may feel stuck with traditional approaches. I can offer a very structured approach for those who prefer it, but I am also adept at thinking outside the box to tailor a treatment plan that best suits each client's unique needs.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and began adding it as a treatment method over 4 years ago. I am currently completing advanced training to be an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. Over the course of my practice, I have found EMDR to be one of the most effective treatments for complex trauma. In my practice, I integrate the use of RemotEMDR, a specialized platform for conducting EMDR therapy remotely. This has enabled me to provide consistent and effective therapy to clients regardless of their location. My experience with clients has shown that EMDR can lead to tremendous progress, particularly for those who have spent years in traditional talk- therapy approaches with limited results.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I have advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have practiced for over 11 years. In my practice, I use TF-CBT to address a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and suicidal ideation that stem from trauma. I have found TF-CBT to be effective with children, adolescents and adults. My experience has shown that TF-CBT can be a powerful tool in helping clients process their trauma, develop coping skills, and ultimately achieve significant improvements in their mental health and well-being.

I have tried out a few therapist but landed on Charesa when I felt I wasn't being heard by my male therapist. She understands my neurodiverse mindset and makes any conversation easy. I highly recommend her if you have had previous therapy experience or tools you've developed in life. She is the best out of all the therapist I've had!

I have been seeing Reese for the better part of 3 years now. She has been there through a lot of my struggles, introduced me to EMDR which has been the best thing since sliced bread. Thank you Reese for never giving up on me and always reminding me of my own strenghts

Charesa has been so helpful. I've only had 3 sessions where we're really working on my struggles and I can tell a huge difference already in how I carry myself, how I feel about myself and people around me, and I'm able to get through negative situations in a healthy way that is helping me get to a peaceful space. And she knows that that's my goal. Peace. I'm getting there! 10 out of 10, I recommend Charesa.
