Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 21 years of clinical experience. I live in North Carolina and am licensed in NC, SC, TX and AR. My treatment philosophy is to partner with my clients in the healing process and to help them cope with past and present life stressors in a safe, empathic, non-judgmental space while fostering the transformational effects of the therapeutic relationship.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, do an initial assessment and explore the issues and challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions to help you achieve your goals.
My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to connect with you in a safe and supportive manner so that you feel heard and understood. I practice with compassion and authenticity to help you create the change in your life you are seeking whether it is talking through a difficult situation, reducing troubling symptoms, improving self-esteem or processing and resolving trauma.
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, or trauma, I'm a good fit for you. I have over 20 years of clinical experience to help you explore the things that hold you back from being a better, healthier version of yourself. Utilizing evidence-based therapy models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Person Centered Therapy, I provide a safe, supportive environment for clients who are motivated to change and interested in tapping into their own inner strengths.
CBT is one of the most highly effective evidence-based therapies for reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, marital issues and disordered eating. I use CBT to help my clients understand the connection between their thoughts and feelings with the goal of reducing unwanted behaviors. CBT enhances and improves problem-solving skills and overall quality of life.
DBT is another evidence based therapy that is effective in addressing very intense emotions and is usually combined with CBT to help clients learn how to change unhelpful behaviors so they can live more fulfilling lives.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is a type of therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy. It helps clients identify dysfunctional thoughts and learn how to choose different ones instead which serve them better. With MBT, we can decrease stress, reduce automatic responses and improve overall daily functioning and quality of life.
