Hi, I'm Mirna! I'm a bilingual LMFT. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. My clinical experience includes working with couples, families, teens, and children. I use a family systemic approach, and EMDR to offer a personalized approach to each client. I also have experience working with individuals that have experienced trauma-related events such as childhood trauma, domestic violence or sexual assault. With compassion and understanding, I will join you in your unique journey.
In our first session, I like to welcome my clients, get to know them, and help them feel comfortable by creating a safe space for them. We will discuss present concerns, what is already being done to solve the "problem" because the client has inner resources and wisdom that guides him/her to a solution. The client will be asked what are his/her expectations and goals for therapy which will help me develop a plan of action for future sessions.
I provide an empathic and compassionate approach to each of my clients.
I love working with adults that are dealing with depression, anxiety, and/or trauma. because they are the most resilient people I have met. I am honored to help them through their healing journey. Most of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck and loss.
I am EMDR trained and have seen the positive impact in clients. I have a gentle approach when using EMDR where the client is still in control while processing traumatic events.
I am trained in family systems approach as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe the individual is part of a larger system and as such is impacted by it. The individual is not the problem, the person is just stuck in a behavioral cycle and that's where I can help. I use family systems knowledge to helps individuals see the whole picture of the problem but also exceptions and solutions to it. Together, we work side by side and find solutions.
Trained in EFIT level one. Emotions are not talked about, we need to feel them. Through, EFIT approach, I aid clients become in touch with their emotions, identified them, described them, but most importantly feel them and know that it is okay to do so.
Through parts works, the client is encouraged to identified and acknowledge a part of self that has been neglected due to shame or guilt. I like to use this approach when a client has gone through a lot of trauma because it helps the client to know him/herself and generate self-compassion.

Mirna is amazing. She has provided me with tools and has helped me make significant progress like no other therapist has helped me do before. I truly feel like I have found a therapist that is knowledgeable, compassionate, authentic, intelligent, personable, direct, and many more. Thank you, Mirna.

I really enjoyed the layout, hearing the plans for how to help and assist me and my partner. I’m looking forward to the future on what to learn, how to cope and what will be discovered. I already enjoy her tactics, and her way of breaking things down, and yet being so honest about the approach and gentle.

She is very good at explaining the situation and helping both sides feel secure. She has a gift. :)
