(she/her)
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the DFW area of Texas. Although I have lived here most of my life, I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and my Master’s degree from Texas State University. I am particularly passionate about working with teens and young adults, and supporting them through life’s challenges with compassion and evidence-based care. I am currently working toward becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, as I believe building a healthy relationship with food is a vital component of overall mental health and emotional well-being. My goal is to provide a supportive, safe, and collaborative space where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped to create meaningful, lasting change. **My hours of availability range from the first session of the day beginning at 8:00am and the last session beginning at 5:00pm. I only provide sessions Monday-Thursday during these hours. Please be mindful of scheduling if you are looking for a evening or weekend provider. **
In our first session we will get to know one another and begin building our clinician/client relationship. After completing the necessary upfront information, we will set goals and intentions for our time spent together.
Like most therapists, I love helping people. My greatest strength is that I will get to know you as an individual, and utilize a person-centered approach. I believe growth in therapy is not just about over analyzing "the problem" but learning from life experiences and current events. I enjoy utilizing exposure therapy, which sometimes leads our sessions to cooking a meal together, reading a book and discussing it, or talking about themes in a show you enjoy. Everyone learns differently, so I want to highlight that in an individual way.
I work with a wide variety of people of ages, ethnicities, and genders in all stages of life. However, my favorite client is someone that is ready to put in the work for change. This may look like practicing exposures, journaling, reading a book, being vulnerable and asking for help, practicing deep breathing, learning a new craft, or challenging yourself to give up social media for a week. I want all my clients to feel comfortable to tell discuss with me what works, and what doesn't work because everyone is different and it's my job to help figure out what works best for you! My ideal client also loves to use sarcasm!

Kayla definitely helped me ease the tension of the stigma of therapy and ensured an all encompassing environment that allowed me to be open about my experiences. My humor is one way I use to cope and Kayla understood that and made me feel comfortable.
