I’m a national board-certified and multi-state Licensed Professional Counselor with a doctorate in psychology and over 20 years of experience supporting adults through anxiety, trauma, grief, and life transitions. I believe therapy should be a safe, collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow. My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive. I use evidence-based treatment methods tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness, solution-focused techniques, and person-centered therapy. When requested, I integrate Christian faith into therapy to support healing, provide spiritual perspective, and align emotional work with personal values. I work well with clients who are ready to explore emotional patterns, past experiences, or stressors that may be keeping them stuck. Whether you’re overwhelmed by anxiety, processing trauma, grieving a loss, or seeking deeper self-understanding, I aim to meet you where you are and walk with you at a pace that feels right. My clinical work is informed by ongoing professional development, national conference training, and active membership in the American Counseling Association, the American Psychological Association, and The National Society of Leadership and Success. I strive to offer a thoughtful, affirming space where you can build insight, resilience, and a grounded sense of self. Therapy with me is a partnership — one that honors your voice, your goals, and your capacity for meaningful change.

I am Nicole Groves, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing direct, holistic, and trauma-informed therapy across Texas, Iowa, Louisiana, and Missouri. My practice bridges the gap between traditional mental health support and somatic healing, helping clients build resilience, regulate their nervous systems, and navigate life's challenges. I specialize in supporting individuals in high-stakes helping professions—such as teachers, nurses, and first responders—as well as offering affirming, nonjudgmental care for the LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kink/BDSM communities. In our sessions, I combine evidence-based behavioral methods like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT with somatic techniques and yoga-based mindfulness. I am first and foremost a lover of people. My approach is authentic, supportive, empathetic, and understanding of the difficulties many experience in life having to manage mental health symptoms, feelings of being alone/misunderstood, dealing with the ramifications of historical trauma and the impact these can have on one's current relationships. My greatest strength is quickly building rapport and focusing on holistic wellness (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically) and the connection between them. I am devoted to best care practices and excellent service delivery. I align myself well and tend to the immediate needs, desires, and goals of the person I'm working with. I don't believe that therapy is about learning to 'suffer less' but to work towards realizing one's full potential and highest level of functioning, identifying and working to resolve barriers that stand in the way, and developing the ability to trust in oneself, and one's ability to thrive in life. Every goal that is important to my client is important to me.

I am trauma-informed, warm and incorporate humor in sessions. I view each person as unique; I orient from a biopsychosocial approach, incorporating one’s genetic factors, current/ past environment, and lifestyle choices into the whole person. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is we are powerful beyond measure.” I help people recognize the light within and tools to shine through the ups and downs of life through incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy and a strengths-based approach. I was a Division I college athlete and pursued graduate studies in nutrition research and physical activity. These experiences shaped my interest in neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and our ability to develop new patterns of thinking, feeling, and responding to life's challenges.

You don’t have to hold it all alone. I offer fiercely affirming therapy for highly sensitive people, adult children of emotionally immature parents, and parents doing the hard, beautiful work of healing while raising others. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, attachment-based work, and nervous system healing. As a mother of two young children, I don’t just understand attachment theory, I live it. That lived experience shows up in my work every day. Both therapy and parenting ask us to keep showing up; even when it's hard, even when it's not perfect. I’m in it with you, and I’m honored to be part of that process. I have a particular passion for working with folks who grew up being told they were too much, too sensitive, too emotional. People who learned to stay small to stay connected. Together, we unlearn those survival strategies and build something more intentional, more grounded, and more authentically yours. All sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures are welcome. If the world hasn't felt safe, especially for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ folks, and women, you’re not imagining it. You don’t have to prove your worth here. You get to take up space, as you are.

I’m a trauma-informed therapist who helps adults heal from anxiety, trauma, burnout, and painful relationship patterns using EMDR therapy and a mind-body approach. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in cycles of self-doubt, overwhelm, or disconnection, appearing “fine” on the outside while feeling anything but on the inside. My goal is to create a safe, grounding space where you can explore what’s beneath the surface, release what’s been weighing you down, and reconnect with the most authentic version of yourself. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is at the heart of my work. It’s an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity. Through gentle bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), the mind can integrate painful experiences in a more adaptive way. Clients often describe EMDR as life-changing- it allows healing to occur on a deeper, neurological level, often when talk therapy alone hasn’t been enough. My style is collaborative, intuitive, and compassionate. I’ll meet you exactly where you are, while gently challenging patterns that no longer serve you. Together, we’ll help you feel safe in your body, clear in your mind, and at peace within yourself.

Hi. I'm Steve. Do you ever wonder why, no matter how many different things you've tried, you fall back into old behaviors that hurt you and/or those you love? Do you wonder why your emotions take over and leave you feeling incapable or overwhelmed? Do your emotions get in the way of effectively communicating when it matters the most? We all face questions like this, and the most fulfilling part of my work is helping people like you find answers to those questions. I don’t have any “one-size-fits-all” solutions, but together we will work to identify what drives your responses and what you can do to make lasting changes. We will work to help you anticipate and prevent issues before they appear, to feel emotional intensity rising and calm it down, and to exit stressful situations before doing or saying something you’ll regret. I don’t believe that our worst moments define us. I DO believe that each of us is capable of overcoming past struggles and finding a new path. I look forward to working with you as you try to find yours.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often driven by fear or pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule. I usually offer mostly daytime hours so having the time to meet during the day is important.

Starting therapy can take courage, especially if you’ve felt misunderstood, judged, or unsupported in the past. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are — a place that feels safe, affirming, and genuinely supportive. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ folks, women, and anyone navigating the impacts of trauma, identity-based stress, or systems that haven’t always made space for them. In our work together, we’ll move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. Therapy with me is collaborative — you’re the expert on your life, and I’m here to support you with tools, perspective, and care as you make sense of your experiences and move toward the life you want. Some of the approaches I draw from include EMDR for trauma processing, DBT for building coping and emotional regulation skills, and The Daring Way™ work around vulnerability, courage, and living in alignment with your values. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start. That’s okay — we’ll figure it out together. Whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect, and build the skills you need to move forward. If you’re curious about working together, I’d love to connect. Whoever you are, you are welcome here.

I believe therapy is less about having all the answers and more about having a place where you can be honest about what’s really going on. Life can be complicated, and sometimes we just need someone who will listen without judgment, help us make sense of things, and walk alongside us as we figure out what comes next. My practice is grounded in connection, curiosity, and creating a space where you can show up as yourself. You don’t have to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start wherever you are and take it from there. I’m interested in the whole person—not just the problem that brings you in. Together, we can explore the experiences, relationships, patterns, and beliefs that may be shaping how you see yourself and navigate the world. I also believe therapy should be useful outside the room, so our work can include practical tools and new ways of approaching the things that matter most to you. I don’t believe growth means becoming a different person. To me, it’s often about becoming more connected to who you already are—understanding yourself more deeply, trusting your voice, setting boundaries, and making choices that feel true to you. My hope is that our work feels like a genuine partnership: a place where you feel seen, understood, and supported while creating meaningful change in your life.

I love guiding people on their healing journeys. It is a privilege to be invited into someone's inner world, and my priority is to create a safe space for this deep work to happen. If you have high self-awareness and insight but still struggle to shake anxiety, depression, negative relationship patterns, or strong emotional and visceral responses—and you recognize these are stored deep within your nervous system and unconscious mind—EMDR therapy may be the right approach for you. EMDR supports the brain's natural ability to heal and is a highly effective, evidence-based trauma therapy. To complement this, I integrate interventions from other proven modalities, including parts work, compassion-focused therapy, somatic-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing.

Let's talk if you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, depressed, or disconnected from yourself due to a significant life event, or experiencing a "tough time" and are ready to make a change but aren't sure where to start. I bring 28 years of experience working in mental health, so you can feel confident you are in capable hands. I want to help you crawl out of the hole you've been in, whether you created it or someone/something else did. I made the switch to a virtual practice in 2015 and never looked back. Therapy should be accessible and affordable for all. Here's what my average client comes to me for...break ups, contemplating divorcing, post partum adjustment, grief due to a death of a loved one, trauma history, work burn-out, can't sleep, can't relax, can't stay organized, can't get along with their family, caregiver fatigue etc. And for clarity here's who I don't work with...anyone less than 18 years-old, couples (although I very occasionally invite a spouse/partner to a session to work on a specific issue) , untreated (as in meds) Bipolar disorder, or heavy drug or alcohol abuse. Thank you for checking out my page and I hope to see you soon! ( instagram is @cypresstxtherapist )

Thank you for taking the first step of courage and making yourself a priority today. Opening yourself up and being vulnerable can be a tremendous step to your healing process. As Brene Brown says, “Vulnerability is not winning or losing, it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.” You are showing up for yourself today! Although the first steps can be overwhelming, I can walk with you and help guide you on the journey of healing and peace. I will always provide a safe space of acceptance and non-judgement for you to share your emotional pain, grow to love and be kind to yourself, and find the peace you deserve to heal. Remember that you are worthy and deserving of being free of the emotional pain you are experiencing. Be kind to yourself. **If you are viewing my profile for your child (3-17 years of age), I provide a calming and accepting space to assist with regulating your child's emotions. If your child is experiencing symptoms of anxiety, ADHD or difficulty focusing due to inattention or hyperactivity, or your child is lacking motivation and seems more irritable and angrier than usual, I can teach your child coping skills and strategies. I’m a therapist who believes therapy should be real, practical, and actually helpful in your day to day life. My work is grounded in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy), which focuses on how your thoughts shape your emotions and behaviors and how to shift what’s not working. It’s less about just changing thoughts and more about challenging the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves, other people, and life. It teaches you how to deal with reality even when reality is inconvenient, unfair, or just plain annoying because let's be honest, life is going to life, and it's in our best interest to learn how to accept that fact while still honoring how we may feel about it. While I consider myself an REBT therapist it's important to note that I don’t do "one size fits all therapy." I pull from approaches like CBT and Narrative Therapy and I tailor the work to fit you, not the other way around. At my core, I lead with a humanistic approach, which means you’ll get honesty, support, and a space where you don’t have to filter who you are. With couples and families, I use Family Systems approaches along with the Gottman Method (Level I certified) to help improve communication, rebuild trust, and create stronger, healthier dynamics.

Hello! My name is Adam Lenker. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in Texas and Wisconsin. Whatever you are dealing with, know that I am here to listen and support you, through harnessing of compassionate self-awareness. I believe strongly in encouraging self-empowerment, focusing on choices and their results. Central to my theoretical orientation (Person-Centered, Existentialist) is a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, being solution-focused, as well as encouraging mindfulness. A little bit about how I approach therapy. In creating an alliance with a new client, I adopt a stance of listening and confronting situations non-judgmentally and with compassion, acknowledging that this work is about you, and your life's goals and struggles. My practice is built around partnership with my clients, working hard to establish and maintain this therapeutic alliance. I do this by taking cues of direction, pace and depth from the people with whom I work, and allowing for immediacy to inform what is and is not working.

Hola, Welcome! My name is Monique and I’m a bilingual mental health counselor with over seven years of experience supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and emotions. Over the years, I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, caregivers, and professionals navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, depression, life transitions, and burnout. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in negative thinking patterns, or struggling with stress in relationships, work, or major life changes. I help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so they can develop practical tools to manage stress, build healthier boundaries, and feel more in control of their lives. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. I provide a warm, collaborative space where clients can explore stress, transitions, relationships, and personal growth in a way that feels both practical and empowering. My goal is to help you build clarity, resilience, and confidence as you create a life that feels balanced and aligned with who you are.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Texas. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
