Hello! I’m Jess. Do you feel like life is passing you by while you watch from the sidelines? Is it hard to find peace, meaning, and balance? Are you surviving instead of thriving? I assist young people and adults in overcoming the cycles of anxiety and depression. We will explore your strengths and patterns to increase self-understanding and identify effective interventions. I love combining reflective listening and skill building to empower you in overcoming struggles. It takes courage and self-awareness to seek positive change and I'm here to support you in achieving your treatment goals! I look forward to working with you!
My therapy style is non-judgmental, warm, and reflective. I believe you are the expert, and I am here to help guide you as you explore. I will open session with an invitation for you to share whatever has been on your mind since our previous session. The topics of discussion will be directed by you and there is no agenda. If you aren't sure what you want to talk about, no problem! I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Although I'm very easy to talk to (picture a smiley face emoji here) I believe that relying on Evidence Based Practices as the foundation to therapeutic work is key to making therapy effective. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral theory, solution-focused theory, person-centered theory, and a harm-reduction-model. I want you to get the most out of therapy, so I will commonly recommend activities and reflections in between sessions for those interested.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship and communication issues, disordered eating, antisocial behavior, and substance misuse. I am an easy-going, down to Earth person and will meet you where you are. I also have a decent sense of humor (if I may say so myself).
